Day in and day out we have to travel and in doing so we have to follow certain rules- traffic rules. but believe me its very hard sometimes to follow these rules.
think about the time when you need to attend a lecture or an important meeting and you get bogged down at the red signal- but you still have to follow it.
lucky are the ambulance and the fire wagon drivers for they don't have to follow those rules.
but where there are rules - there are rule breakers(safety first/ last).
do you find a rule breaker in you? how boring do you find to follow traffic rules?

Hi, partha thanks for being my refferal.
now i want to say a fact that there are certain times when we have the ultimate urge to break the traffic rules but, these are the times when we have to hold upon that urge.
If this question had been asked during the fifties or earlier, it would have been answered with scorn. But during the sixties, large numbers of people recognized that obeying the law was sometimes harmful because sometimes the law itself was wrong. Therefore, we had a civil rights movement, an antiwar movement, and several other smaller movements in which people purposely disobeyed the law. In addition, there was a general feeling of rebellion that caused many people to quit obeying rules and regulations, and to start living quite differently from what was "expected" of them. Since then, people have become less trustful of the government, and young people have grown up believing that authority is wrong, and maybe the laws too.
there are different types of people.
people are are primarily worried about getting punished.
These people do not analyze or reason, and their moral development is very limited. As motorists, they are very law-abiding, but they are likely to react poorly in an emergency and to explode with anger easily. As bike riders, they stick to the sidewalk, coasting at walking speed.
people are very selfish, and will modify their behavior only if they get rewarded as a result. As motorists, they are worried only with themselves, and they don't care about others. As bike riders, they will ride on the sidewalk and will run anyone down; they will not ride a bike for altruistic reasons, such as to benefit the environment.
people believe in law and order. They have great respect for the law, and they will inconvenience themselves and go against the majority to obey it. As motorists, they strictly obey the traffic handbook. As cyclists, they obey the cycling laws if they know them.
people are more governed by the spirit and the intent of the law. These people recognize that the law does not have to be obeyed literally; it's the purpose and the result that are important. As motorists, they would be more concerned with safety that with the traffic code. As cyclists, they would be more flexible in their interfacing with traffic.
people are governed by a sense of justice. They recognize that the law is a set of rules only, and that those rules can be changed at any time, and they look beyond the intent of the law and the immediate result to see what the final result will be. These people are very likely to deliberately break the law in order to get it changed. They are very likely to not drive cars at all, even if riding a bicycle means great personal inconvenience. They would normally cooperate in traffic, but if they felt that blocking traffic would make a significant difference, they would be willing to do so. In addition, they would be willing to go to jail, in fact, would ask to be taken to jail, in order to stand up for their beliefs.
but what ever is said and answered, we should abide by teh law.

It is boring for some, not for me. I am always a follower of traffic rules, and if ever i drive, i will not beat the red light, will not swerve cause i value my life all too well to just have it go to waste in a non sense car accident.
I am a bit of a rulebreaker at work though. hehe I sometimes do not wear proper office attires, i am really comfortable wearing jeans... hehe

hey,parthajena
i am not a rule breaker.i suppose the existence of rule have reason for why we need a rule.goverment will not do that if there are very order in the crossroad,so we should understand the rules which was established just for our safty and driven fast as soon as possible.we need the rule,we also should obey the rules

Thats true buddy. Rules are must for smooth functions.
Afterall we always complaining against rules and vying for 'freedom' is absurd.Whats freedom that causes troubles?
And its right, if we had been right there would not have been rules.

For me, it's the other way around. I absolutely despise people who break traffic rules. If you live where I live (in Indonesia, that is), you would see 75% of drivers (95% of those are bikers) break traffic rules 60% of the time. Then you would get a feel of how chaotic traffic would be without rules. And to make matters worse, the attitude of the police is not helping either. Since they obviously can't confine those obvious 75% of rule breakers (that would make an average of about 500 cars & bikes per hour), they go and look for ridiculous things to have a reason to fine you (it's all about the money for them). If you think it's boring to be stuck in a traffic jam, you're right, it is boring. But if everyone gets to the point of breaking the rules, it's going to get worse (and obviously more boring) to the point of turning a probably only 10 minutes jam if everyone had followed the rules to a 1+ hour jam. Selfishness won't get you anywhere. Especially with hundreds of people stuck on the same road and everyone only thinking and acting for themselves...

no it is not at all boring to follow the traffic rules. they are made for our safety and also for the safety of others.
there are sometimes some desperate people who do not like to obey the traffic rules. also there are times the common people who are very desperate and in a fist of anger or disgust try to break the rules. sometimes they feel that they should harm themselves in that depression. at that time they forget that they are not only harming themselves but also endangering the lives of other people. i am saying so that sometimes i have done that myself....that i forget that there are none to cry for me...but what of those people for whom there are people who love them.

its always safety first in my opinion.rules are made for the betterment of people and people don't understand and break rules.its better to be late for few minutes than being late for ever...
