I wonder if anyone can give a link to a standard (or default) usb device driver for Windows XP?

That's interesting. Windows XP will not recognize your external DVD burner? I've never had such a problem as that before. Are you having problems with a specific function, or does the drive not show up at all? And if the drive is not showing up, can you tell me the brand name and model number? This information should be on the underside of the burner, if nowhere else.

It recognizes that I have connected some new device - but it calls it "system" and cannot find any driver that is appropriate. DVDRW2016UI BTC2016-UI it says on the receipt. Thanks.

Okay. Your external DVD burner is a 16x rewritable from Emprex. I've found two drivers, only one of which you should need. It's a firmware driver. Get it here: http://www.emprex.com/var/download/USBPELMDU2016B02T.zip Hope this helps!

Hi, thanks for the response. I don't know how you have thought to make say it's an Emprex - but it says BTC on the package. Maybe you can help more when you know this?
