"Pick up the dog poop, hope that it's hard!"

Anyone remember that old Joe Walsh song, Ordinary Average Guy? This was one of the first sunny and dry days here in Ohio for quite some time and I got ambitious. Got my plastic glove and bag but unfortunately there wasn't too much poop that was solid enough to pick up!
When I lived in Arizona it was pretty easy...an hour or so after it was deposited, the poop was like rocks. Here, in a normal environment, I'm a little more picky! The 13yr old across the street will offer to do it when he wants a new video game or Mother's Day is near but I usually have to do it myself. And I admit, in summer I just usually let the lawnmower distribute the fertilizer!
How do you deal with those fertile nuggets?

My favorite line in all of his songs (and it's got a LOT of competition.)
When I lived in Burlington, VT USA, we lived next to a park overlooking a large (and incredibly beautiful) mountain lake. It is said that unlike the rest of the world, Vermont has 5 seasons. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and MUD SEASON. Mud Season is force to be reconned with in the country, but in the city...
The park I mentioned was used all year round for people to walk their dogs, in the spring, summer and fall whatever the dogs left behind was taken care of by the lawn mower. In the winter, it just disappeared into the snow... and froze. There was often 2 to 4 feet of snow, digging it out and putting it in a bag was just ridiculous.
When "spring" came, and the snow melted, the first nice day we would have all the girls from the University would grab their bikinis and runs to the park to enjoy the green grass and get some sun.
After they had lain on their back and soaked up the sun in the park for an hour or so, they would get up.... and the winters' deposits were right there, stuck to their back.

I like just mowing over it. I have a ton of it now and should've picked it up when it was warm and sunny the other day but contented myself with sitting in the lawn chair working some puzzles (Sudoku) during breaks from writing. It was just too nice a day to pick up poop!
Today it'll rain again--I'm not complaining but I guess the poop will have to further biodegrade!
