Tag your response?

It really annoys me when I'm trying to respond to a bunch of discussions before going to bed or whatever when I post response and then I get asked if I want to add tags to the discussion. I only feel the need to add tags when starting a discussion... so do any of you tag a response? If so, why?

Tagging is a way of organizing discussions according to content. When a mylotter who opened a discussion types tags, he's creating links from his discussion to other discussions of the same content. But what about the responder? Doesn't his thoughts about the content matters? There are instances that other relevant topics are discussed in a discussion not primarily asked. That's why the responder is asked to type tags, in order to update the links, or the summary of its content. At first, I usually just skip tagging. But later on, I realized that my response is somehow related to another topic. I guess I'm just trying to help the one who opened the discussion, and also the community, by giving more links to the discussion, so it will have a bigger chance of being found when searched.

I have made it a habit, to tag every post I start or came replying to. I do believe that it adds something to the discussion itself, as they categorize and put our posts to their proper interests section. Though I don't get paid by doing it, I just follow these simple parameters to at least HELP other members here..

See, I figure that the response is in the discussion, so it will automatically get the discussion's tags- do you get what I am trying to say? I do see your point of it, though... thank you for responding!

I believe that tags has more purpose here than just simply putting and typing it, you won't understand one's point if you're not really interested listening to it..

Well, it does annoy me at first, until I found out that you could actually skip it. I for one thinks that tagging a discussion should only be done by whoever creates the discussion, not someone who comments on the discussion.

I usually set the same tag as the discussion builder. Cause i think that what i response is the same tag as the topic .In my opinion,it is not necessary for us to set another tag to the discussion .

Exactly my thoughts- your response is in the discussion, so therefore it seems like it would automatically get that discussion's tags. Thanks for the response!

At first it also annoys me, especially it's just a short sentence response I make. Later I realize that I use tags to find discussion topics. So make it a habit to tag longer posts.
