What books do you love to read while travelling?

Our mood & surrounding always help decide the book we want to read.So what do we read while we are travelling? I go for magazines(preferably sports mags) while travelling.I wont read a novel, cause i know i cant give heart to it(I quite like sightseeing & chatting onboard). But there are people who read a lot. Some arent so choosy.I have an uncle who reads anything(even pamphlets). what do you read?

short stories are the ones that i coos to read while travelling. but one thing is quite annoying while reading during the travel is that you have to focus your eyes on the book while it is shaking. but still when the weather is fine and the travel goes smooth who can resist the charm of reading something. but the one that annoys the most is the fact when you are about to reach the destination and your story remains unfinished you feel like skipping the pages to know the end of the story cause you know that when you reach you cannot read and you do not have the time to complete the story..... well can not describe much about this but still it is very annoying.

quite right buddy, well i think that the books that i choose depends some how on the journey i do. if it is a short journey then i choose short stories so that i will complete them and also i choose them over novels as will not be able to complete them in the journey and my mind will remain distracted at my destination. anyways have a good day.

Well you can also choose to read poems, reviews, journals on the short journeys. I agree that not finishing a story is sometimes distracting. But then its hard to complete a long story within the span of a journey. Its really good to choose short ones so that you can enjoy it. And if its over start a new one.

This is really weird. I am sure I answered your discussion already but it seems like it didn't save LOL Oh well here I go again. I read magazines (mostly gossip ones LOL) and the occasional novel when I travel. Really depends on how long the travelling will take and whether I am in the mood to read or not.

I will like to read the traveling books at that time. Because I will learn more information for the place I am visiting. Knowing more is very useful.

i like to read magazines more on the journeys. they are mostly bought in the railway stations or in the bus stops. and when the journey seems to be getting longer i do read that over and over again. that may sound funny but i think that there is something more to that. well after reading the magazines i talk a lot in the discussions with my friends and they get surprised at my ideas on current affairs or critical comments on movies on books... without having read or seen them.

It doesn't sound funny. Afterall you read them again and again to gain something. So it may seem funny but its not. Well, during my school days me and my friends used to share magazines on current affairs and GK. And read them over and over again. That was for the competitions. Anyways, have a good day. And thanks for responding.

Those school day competitions felt very hard and hectic during that time. Now i feel why i couldn't find them amusing...Ha. Much was read during that time. Apart from study curriculum, novels and magazines of latest affairs were much read. There was nothing so choosy about it.But now all we concentrate is on what is related to our profession. Times do really change what we choose to read.

the GK classes in the school were really interesting we were able to out wit each other by remembering those fact that seem to be out of our minds these days . also i think that the life as gone somewhere... where these things that once kept us so indulged no longer interests us. well we can only say that the times are changing and also we are changing with the time too.

And that makes one feel very bad...Isn't it? That was the problem with me too. When i was a child, my mom used to make me read a specific amount from my books during the long distance journeys. But i used to sleep away the journey and get a sound reprimand from my mom... thanks for responding. Seems you are a munnabhai fan!!

When I travel I often like to read a novel set in one of the countries that I am visiting during that trip. Like when I went to Kenya I read a true story about a lion in Africa. When I was in New Zealand I went to a book shop and found a book about someone's journey in that country. When I was in Australia I discovered an excellent author of travel writing. So I read his description of a journey paddling by kayak though the Pacific Ocean. I like to read the travel guide book that I take with me. I most admit that I had too much in the way of books for my trip around the world. I took USA, Hawaii, Fiji and Australia guide books with me. Then I bought a travel guide for South East Asia when I was in Australia. I often buy a glossy magazine with a travel theme or one about dream like buying a house in the sun. I wish...

Well tripta, it depends on individual situations.Sometimes the journey is quite boring. So you need to do something like reading a book. And sometimes when the sights are amusing one cannot help but enjoy those. What you say is also true buddy. If you are making a trip, why not enjoy the trip. At the same time, like my case, when you have to travel for business purpose its hard to sit idle or enjoy the travel. So i get something to read. Thanks for responding buddy.

Reading tinkle is also reading my friend. Infact, sometimes i too pick up comics to read for fun. But, i'm somewhat poor at sudoku. So, i dont feel free to choose sudoku on journeys.

i like to read magazines while i am on travel. i usually pick up a sports star or a sports week from the newsstand or the magazine stall and then i read it on the journey. sometimes if i am on a novel in the journey then i carry it and read it on the journey.
