Hey, I would like to start discussion on the nusances of pre-paid auto system installed recently in the central railway station, chennai. Today morning at 5 am I arrived at Central Station from Ooty. I got the token for prepaid auto for Rs.2 to go to nanganallur. But to my surprise I found that there is no auto in the lineup to carry me. Instead mockery of autodrivers are threatening/forcing me to climb their auto which is parked half a kilometer away from the counter. The reason is that there is no lineup system and the autowalas are not accepting the passengers with minimum fare, i.e., a drop to the nearby place and everyone wants to have a passenger with a longer journey.. When I insisted for the line up, the counterman is healpless as mockery of drivers, some in even intoxicated mood are abusing the passengers. I found a group of lady passengers with prepaid coupon bought to go to nearby places are denied access and made to roam pathetically here and there. The system introduced by railway police has posted two constables to arrange the lineup. But to my pitty I saw only two empty chairs in the nearby booth. I think the empty chairs are giving proxy to the cops on duty. Chennai is a place of tourism with variety of visitors from other states and countries. By keeping the prepaid auto system like this are we not ashamed. The prepaid is system at Bangalore is too good. Why can't we follow that. I hope the railway authorities and railway police will raise to the occasion and save the passengers from the harassment of auto drivers. I expect mylot users to join this discussion and offer their comment, so that one social justice can emerge.
