What's for dinner tonight?

Being that today is Good Friday, I know all catholics don't eat meat, so I am wondering what you all will be fixing? I am catholic and am looking for something different to eat. We ate Chicken last night, and hubby isn't big on fish. Maybe we will have Spinach Alfredo Pizza. How does that sound for dinner? I haven't had that yet this year, so that sounds good to me, just not the fattening pizza part. Maybe I'll convince hubby to go to Cici's pizzaria and there it is all you can eat for 1 price. Maybe if I am feeling up to it we can do that. What about you, what are you fixing or are you going out to eat tonight?

on good friday we ate home made cheese pizza and then for Holy Saturday (fast and abstinence) we had new england style clam chowder with veggie burgers for our main meal. the veggie burgers were topped with slices of tomato/onion/mozzerella cheese and served on seeded kaiser rolls.

My family is not catholic so we don't have to worry about eating meat today. The Catholic church here has a fish fry for the Catholics they say it is really good I am not sure what they serve with it. I don't know what else to fix besides fish so that would be hard since your husband does not like fish.

Well, he isn't catholic so it doesn't really apply to him, lol I hate to cook a big meal just for me though. So I think pizza won. lol

Well, Good Friday has past and I trust you enjoyed the vegetarian pizza. My son his family and I went out for brunch seeing Good Friday is an official holiday in Canada. We usually don't eat meat on Good Friday even though we are not Catholic. I had a dish of smoked salmon, spinach, a poached egg, topped with hollandaise sauce and brie cheese. My son had creamed spinach with smoked trout. My daughter-in-law had the normal type of brunch. The week before I was invited out for dinner by an old friend. I had linguine with a sauce made from three different kinds of peppers, red, yellow and orange. There were also a few mushrooms and onions in the sauce. It was topped with grated Parmesan cheese and I thought it was a really good vegetarian dinner. You could keep something like that in mind for next year.

I am not so sure about other dishes for dinner today. But I can make sure one dish, that is the mashed potato. I promised my son to make this for him as he likes eating it. I am happy to do so because he doesn't like eating vegetable and at least it's good for him to eat mashed potato.

Veggies are a lot better for your son than mashed potatoes. Too much starch is not a good thing for kids.

pizza is always good, we may do the same thing here. If I get motivated enough I may make homemade mac and cheese - that's the best!

We had homemade curry chicken, one of my hubby's favorites. Then we had ice-cream for dessert which we normally don't have.

Well sweety we aren't catholic but we didn't have meat either! We all had different meals tonight -I had hot and spicy chicken skewers with naan bread, my son and daughter had fish with potatoes and veg and (this sounds really bad) but I am not too sure what my other half had as he ate at work! Hope you enjoyed your pizza, fattening or not! lol xxx

LOL skipped the pizza. Not hungry. I will grab a grill cheese later I guess. Hubby is on sofa resting, so not sure, may still order pizza.

We are not catholics, so we don't have any restrictions. I am making a meatball bread pudding for dinner tonight. A new recipe for me. I was looking for way to use up some hot dog rolls and dinner rolls. Probably make a salad and serve some chilled fruit.

Hello dear icyorchid. The dinner I had tonight was rice and fish and steamed egg. It is a very simple dinner that I had today. But I love it as I do not have to go out to a restaurant or the school canteen today as I have time to do the simple cooking in my own apartment. Thanks.

My husband originally wanted to order pizza but I just wasn't feeling it. He didn't want me to have to cook. I had planned on making chicken enchiladas for tonight anyway. So, that is what I ended up making. He gobbled them up and there are no leftovers.
