these days desktops have become very very essential. so it is not new to find people sitting at their desktops for hours. but what matters is who can sit undisturbed for how long.
myself i can sit undisturbed for around one hour..... but in a day i generally sit for around four to five hours.....on weekends it stretches.....
and not just that the quality of the surfing also matters..
how long can you sit before the desktop?

I agree computers have become an integral part of our lives.Hence the more time we sit before the desktop.
I sit for around three to four hours a day(i'm a game buff). But its hard for me to sit unmoved.Usually its my neck that hurts.
But i have many friends who sit eight to ten hours a day.Ofcourse their job demands it.I wonder how their neck feels like!!I have never sat that long myself though.

it is the eyes that take the toll for those who usually keep sitting in front of a computer for more than 1 hour. While using computers, either playing games or designing or programming, users are always "forgetting" the time. It is dangerous for us to neglect the damage to health caused by the long time sitting and staring.
i usually sit for something more than two to three hours.
