I dont know about everyone else but i am totally obsessed with LOST. Does anyone have any thoughts on what is currently going on in the show? What are your thoughts on Ben? Is a good guy or a bad guy??? Is he telling the truth about the freighter or not??

I think Ben switches sides depending on whether it benefits him or not. He is not a bad guy nor is he a good guy either. He does know how to get on and off the Island and he loves his daughter and I suspect that the people from the freighter may have captured Alex to force Ben to give them his resources and they are up to no good. So far Alex's mother and boyfriend have been killed but I do not know whether Ben did it (I doubt it) or the ones from the freighter did. I have a feeling that Mike is not Ben's only spy. I rather suspect it is the Captain.
Or it could be that the Captain is the spy and Mike just a pawn, and the Captain has been throwing people or killing the crew to give the Others on the Island a fighting chance.

I actually agree with part of what you said and disagree with part of what you said. I do think that Ben does whatever is good for him and what he wants so to him the other people are the "bad guys". I thought it was obvious that Ben set up Alex to lose her mom and her boyfriend because he wants to control whats his (we saw this in Juliett's episode). I do think that there is something up with the captain too. Just not sure what it is yet.

I am not sure what category Ben should be in, but for now he is running out of options and he needs the help of Locke and gang to try to keep the island safe. The island has great power and medicinal uses that the other people want. I believe the people on the freighter are there to get/kill Ben and secure the island. That is why Ben needs Micheal to help him get rid of the "bad guys" on the boat. He may save Ben and the survivors, not sure about the "others" yet. They were suppose to go to the temple but that is where the scientists went to stop the chemical reactors and they did not see any one there yet.

Ben wanted his daughter to go some where safe.. But her mother was to take her and her boyfriend also went along..They both were killed except for his daughter... I don't know why that is.. Why would they just kill those two and not her? It does for sure make me wonder why though... Anyone have any idea's or am I just going to have to wait a month to find out for myself... I am just so into this show we all waited a long time as it as is to watch this but now again we have to wait to see the rest of season 4... Grrrrr. lol

We've already seen that Ben is a very manipulative guy. I think it's funny that both sides are telling the same story, except they're blaming each other for all the evil stuff. It sounds like there's going to be a shootout or something in the next episode. I really don't want to see that happen. Mostly, I want answers to what Ben and Widmore are actually doing and how the island works.

Agreed! While Ben is wildly popular as the perfect "bad guy" since late in S2, he does seem to hold most (if not all) the keys to what is going on in terms of the freighter, Richard Widmore, Jacob, and other issues.
From what Sayid found in Ben's "secret room", it's clear that Ben has a serious amount of resources, monetary and otherwise. Thus, he would logically seem to be a pretty heavy player in whatever forces are pulling against each other over the island. One name I don't see mentioned on other boards I go to is Sun's father, the powerful Mr. Paik. I can't help but feel he has a part to play in this before we get much further.
I don't want to see a shoot-out that appears to be looming, either. While I don't trust the people manning the frieghter, I DO believe that at least Frank and Dan are sympathetic - if not completely on their side - with the "losties". Charlotte and Miles strike me as malignant characters, although the writers seem to love manipulating us into believing the worst in people when in fact the opposite is true.
Time will tell.......

Ben's options are getting slim right now and he may need to be the good guy to get what he wants, he wants the island. He doesn't want the people of the freighter to get it or anyone else, especially Widmore.
As far as Mr. Paik, Sun's father, I think he is a major person in the Dharma Initiative. Not sure what role he has there yet. Charlotte and Miles also have a role there, they knew they needed to stop the chemical reactors but did not have the actual password, did Ben change that? He could have.
There has to be more than one spy on the boat for Ben, Micheal can not do that by himself, he just doesn't have it all in him. I am thinking it could be the helicopter pilot. He was told to stay on course and didn't. That caused damage to Desmond hoping to cause damage to Siheid also. No survivors to tell the story back home...
I don't think Ben had anything to do with Alex's mother and boyfriend getting shot, he loves Alex and will protect her as he has shown in the past, and he knew they would have protected her also.He may not have agreed or trusted them but he did know they all were on the same page when it came to protect Alex.

MY outlook on Lost is:
Ben was the bad guy obviously but now that he is hopeless he has decided to give true valuable information to the others. I think it is the truth because of the things they previously showed about the people who are there to so-called "rescue" them. It makes sense that some one would want to keep the Island a secret and do whatever it takes to keep it from other people's findings. I just wish there were more than an hour of the show playing. They leave me wondering just when I think I have figured it all out!

My husband and I are great fans of Lost. We own all of the seasons leading up to this one, and will certainly purchase this one too. Because the storylines are so convoluted, it's great to be able to rewatch previous epissodes as needed, to refresh our memories and we always pick up one things we missed before.
As for Ben and the freighter-- even when Ben tells the truth, it's always a partial truth, or a kernal of truth wrapped in a lie. He manipulates facts and people, always with and eye to advancing his own agenda.
I've come to the conclusion that it is impossible to logically predict for sure, what might happen next. First of all, there are forces at work on the island that defy logic. Secondly, there is always conflict even among the survivors, which can take them off in any new direction in a heartbeat, not to mention the constant pot-stirring of the "others", and now the so-called rescuers. Third, there's the added element of what I call "time-bouncing". Jeez! Makes me dizzy trying to keep with that. It's like throwing a tiny superball as hard as you can it a small room--- you never know what kind of bounce it's gonna take next, and forget catching it---just get out of the way and wait til it stops! Lastly, let's not forget that no matter what we might deduce from the content of each episode, we are still at the whim of the writers. They sit in a room and throw ideas into a big pot, stir it, then serve it up to us like so much tangles spaghetti. If they decide on a whim to change the ingredients, we can either end up with a "full belly", or be left with a bad taste in our mouths---ultimately it's up to them.
The one thing we can count on is that producers of Lost have promised that all plot lines will be neatly concluded and our questions answered befor Lost has it's final episode. I hope they are true to that promise. I still remember the "non conclusion" served up to us by the network responsible for the series Twin Peaks. What an insult to the fans of that show!
I love Lost, (though I was disappointed with this week's episode), and I'll keep watching-----and hoping.
smiles,

I have become completly obessed with this show.Im not sure whether ben is a good or bad guy but right now it looking really good for him. Even though Ben has been portrayed as a munipilative bad guy since we met him he seems to be the lesser of two evils. What really surprises me is that he actually survives the entire things. I really cant wait to see how it all unfolds.

I am a huge Lost addict. I love watching this show and am angry if I miss it. :) I have often rewatched an episode I had recorded or watched them online. My husband and I have the seasons and usually watch the previous season right before the new season comes on. I think that lost is so great and addicting because it is so unpredictable and even when your predictions are right they still throw you for a loop. I like all the twists and turns and can't wait to find out some more answers.
I am very disappointed that we have to wait for new episodes though.
