Hi everyone! Just had to share. Alot of you know I go to my aunts house to do my laundry and of course it takes all day. So yesterday I decided I would try the laundramat. I used 6 washers and was out in 2 hours. How good was that? But I dont think I could do that all the time because that could get expensive. But I had the rest of day to do other things. So do you do your laundry at home or elsewhere? Or do you and your donkey take it down to the river?

I go down be the riverside and beat my laundry on a rock. I find this better than any modern day machinery. This way, you know how clean your clothes are, LOL. Just kidding, there is a laundry room where I live.

Yes, it was very hard for me back then. My whole life was turned upside down and everything was different. I remember crying for my mother at night and thinking that I would cry forever. But I got through it by the grace of God and I am still here.

I do my laundry at home. It is very costly. Electric and gas bill is much higher. When I have house guests and they do laundry at my house (and taking showers) it cost much more. I was thinking to use donkey to the river. It can work in many ways. I will not need to cut my grass, donkey can do the work. I can also go shopping with donkey....camping and much more....

We have a laundramat 2 blocks away from home. We use it just to do our bedspreads and blankets as they have huge machines that they will fit in. Other than that we do our laundry in our machines in the basement. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

air dry - air dry clothes
My washing machine is huge, I can easy wash king comforter in it (front load). My dryer is old, but does the work. Should I switch for air dry, eco friendly sun?

Hello dear Terryz. I do my laundry in the bathroom in my school apartment. I live on campus and have no washing machine to use, but once I get home, I do not handwash, but use the washing machine instead. In my family, we handwash the socks and underwears only without putting them into the washing machine. Thanks.

I do mine at home. In India we do not have laundromats...but we do have some agencies that pick up the clothes, launder and iron them. I've never tried it myself. I usually do mine at home. Before the little one was here, I would do a load once in three days...but now with the little one, I do around two loads every day...or a load a day and two loads once in two days. I wash the little one's clothes separately.

I bet those agencies are expensive!LOL
@SViswan (12051)

That depends on how much clothes make up 1 Kg. Rs. 35 isn't much....and that's the rate to wash and iron a kg of clothes...pick up and drop is free. Sounds reasonable to me....but I first have to check how much of clothes make 1kg..if it's only 2 shirts(which I doubt)..then it's expensive.

I'm minus a donkey. Too bad. I do my laundry at my parents. I could rent a washer and dryer, but it would be added to my rent, and I can't afford that. My parents don't care, but to show them I appreciate it, I do their laundry too. Occasionally my mom will do some if I'm not there, but for the most part I do it and I'm glad to take some of the stress off her.

The donkey thing all the way LOL WEll it would probably be better anyways. WE bought our washer and drier with inlaws so I have to go down to her apartment to do the laundry and I don't like it one bit. Like you I can't afford to go to the laundromat all the time, but I would rather. Really. There are 5 of us here and 3 of them are teenagers, so you can imagine the amount of laundry I have to do each week.

I used to go to my mom's to do laundry before I got a washer. Once in a while I'd also go to a laundramat if there was some reason I was either in a real hurry, or had a lot to do and they were monitering the water or mom had something going on at her place. Since mom moved out of the house I got her washer and dryer. When the washer broke I bought a new washer and dryer so I do laundry at my house now. I've only been doing laundry at my house since 1998.

Since the early 80's i have had my own washer and dryer, and probably some before that. I could not live without it. Can't imagine going to the laundrymat again, lugging all those clothes out and back in. And sitting there for so long. It nice if you have relatives that you can take them to, but laundrymats do get expensive. Back wehn i was going I think it was like 50 cents to wash and a quarter to dry. Why don't you get a set for your self or is it you just can't afford it. I tell you what I don't know where you live but here they have a site called FREECYCLE.ORG OR .COM WHICH EVER. What people do is list things they don't want anymore and if you want it you can go pick it up for free. They are always listing washers and dryers. That maybe an option. I know some people live where they won't allow them to have washers and dryers. All you have to do is look for your town or a town close to you on freecycle and then watch and if you see them list what you need email them. I have used it several times got a recliner that is like new. Let me know if you interested and i will help you get started with them.

Sorry didn't mean to pry into your business, I have used freecyle many times and not found one thing that was broken or didn't work they list if something is wrong with it or if it works fine. It was an option for someone that didn't have one. Sometimes used is better than none.

Good for you...But like you said it can get expensive...I throw ours down the stairs, haul them into the kitchen and stuff them in the washer...There was a time when we did use the laundromat, and I am glad they have them...

Washer and Dryer - Having a set at home is, oh my gosh! Wonderful!
Or do you and your donkey take it down to the river? LMBO!! You're so comical Terry... lol Oh gosh... I used to have to go to the laundry mat every week and do my laundry but I was able to buy a used washing machine through a man who rebuilds them and sells them. At that time, we lived in such a small house and so we had to have the machine on wooden crates beside the porch out back. And we hung the clothes on a line to dry so we could do laundry only on sunny days. We covered the washer with a tarp. When it broke down the last time, hubby was about to go to Korea for a year. I told hubby there is no way I'm going to suffer through this while he's gone so I bought a brand new one and later when I was able to, I got the matching dryer and now I do all my laundry at home. I still hang them out to dry on warm sunny days to save on the electric bill but sometimes I have to throw them in the dryer due to rainy days or being in a hurry. Hopefully some day you'll be able to get a set of your own. Nothing beats being able to do everything at home.

I would love a pet donkey LOL! We sadly don't have a washing machine and mum has to go to the laundry every Sunday, thankfully dad takes her. It's mum's worst chore, she just doesn't have the space to instal a washing machine. When I used to live with my ex the washing machine was my baby, I loved him and I really miss him, more than the ex! I was in charge of it and I looked after that washing machine probably why it lasted so long, I bet it misses me.

hi terryz! i don't wash my own clothes but i don't bring them in a laundrymat either. i pay someone to do it for me. usually my old cousin who mainly do housework as a job. i think its cheaper that way since the pay at laundrymats is per piece and expensive. and that way i am also helping my cousin to have a regular income. she washes my clothes every two weeks. as for my undies, i don't bring them to the river to wash them. but i do wash them myself.

Since I have only a super-sized washer, if it's winter I take my wet clothes to the laundromat to dry. Otherwise I hang them outside. Trying to save my change is pointless in the winter cause it all ends up at the laundromat. lol It can get expensive thou. I feel for some of the ppl that have nowhere to wash their clothes but the laundromat. I sock at least 3 bucks in quarters every 2 wks. for drying.

my wife does the regular laundry in our basement as we have a washer and dryer. but the big stuff like rugs and coats and stuff for our dog Reggie..his blankets and bedding goes into a commercial laundry a mile from our house..i just put this in our truck and off we go and spend a few quality hours washing clothes in the Texas size machines and drying them in the Jumbo dryers..its good to go..but I only have to to this three times a years..we do rugs then too..and it done in a few hours..
