Little Girls and Little Boys

"Little girls are made of sugar and spice and all things nice. Little boy are made of slugs and snails and puppy dog tails." That's what I was taught when I was a boy and it never seemed very fair. Girls always got away with things I thought then, whilst if something went wrong, there had to be a boy behind it, even when there wasn't. But my experience was that girls were far more adept at both causing trouble and getting away with it. As I've got older I have often thought back to this rhyme and wondered "was it right", are girls nicer than boys? What do you think?

Oh my gosh I dont think girls are nicer than boys and I am a girl! My boys are fantastic, placid, easy going, pleasant natured. Where as on the other hand my daughter who is 2 is spiteful and peevish to both her brothers and is quite bossy with them and it ends up being the boys that get told off by their dad for it! She gets them into terrible trouble and then stands there looking as though butter would not melt!

You may find this strange but I do agree with you. Girls are evil! Well, we're allowed, it's our job.
I also grew up with that rhyme. Although the same thing goes with little sisters you know. Us big sisters get blamed for stuff when little sis did something wrong. After 20-odd years, our parents finally realised this!
I don't think I've ever got on with very many girls in my life, they're so b*tchy! Boys on the other hand are generally fairly simple. Boys don't tend to be conniving little bullies and take you as they find you. If your friends with a bloke then you are but you never know with a girl.
So yes, I do think the rhyme was wrong. I think maybe it's about the way kids seem to be physically and not how they really are. Boys like to be messy, girls would mostly be pretty and act sweetly when necessary! Do you know, the more I talk about boys and girls, the more I feel I ought to ask my parents if I was born with something I shouldn't?

Girls still cause trouble and always get away with it. We are smarter than most boys though not all...or maybe just better at causing trouble and hiding it. After all, we are usually masters of the blame game. I don't think it changes much after we get older. :)

I completely agree. Boys and men tend to make a real hash of things when they find themselves in emotional trouble. Girls and me are very adept at steering their way through and exiting victorious. I have just watched my 19 year old daughter and three of her friends gently steer three boys somewhere they didn't want to go because it meant a lift into town and it has being snowing. If the boys had tried it in reverse. They'd be walking!

There is absolutely no difference between how mischievous little girls and boys can be, it's just that women and girls know how to read body language and changes in voice tone far better than men. This is why women or mothers are better in detecting who did something wrong. It goes back to the cave men era where the woman was the nest defender and had to read the wants and emotions out of the childrens and mens faces. Did you know that women can associate at least five more wants or reasons why a baby is crying than a man can? Girls are also better in lying for they understand the face and body language that comes with it. This is also the reason why men cannot lie women into their faces without being detected. Even if she won't mention it, hehehe. Hope this helped ^^

Nah, not true! I mean its a cute little rhyme but there's always a " bad apple" in the bunch wether it's a girl or a boy

I think that little rhyme is rubbish. I raised two boys and when they were little they were quite squeamish with creepy crawly things. I also remembered when they played with girls the girls often instigated trouble. Where the boy would hit another child and then be punished for doing that the girls were quite sneaky in inflicting pain to another child. These observations were made many years ago.
More recently I have a chance to observe the four grand children of a relative who provides day care for them while the parents work. There are three boys and one girl. From what I see the girl causes the most trouble and is also sneaky about it. Most of the time one of the boys gets blamed. I think it is because girls are socialized differently from boys.

I don't think it's fair. I never taught about that when i was a child. perhaps if i may have a suggestion, i will make it like this :
little girl are made from sugar and everything that sweet, such as ice cream, cake, water melon juice,
and little boys are made from salt and everything that salty. cheese, chicken grill, mash potato,
think about it makes me hungry!LOL

I think my spice is some form of hot pepper, if I'm made out of spice!
I don't really know on this one. When I was a kid, I got blamed for things far more often than my brother, but I think that has to do with our family's particular politics. I can't say I know how it works in general.
I was always either really nice or really mean when I was a kid, depending on the circumstances. I didn't have much of an in-between mode.

Ha, ha, ha, I have heard that said in a song that Michael Jackson sang when he was younger. I have always thought of it in terms of the fact that boys like to play with worms, rocks, and dirt. Girls like to play with Barbie Dolls and we hate all that gross stuff that boys play with. The boys also hate our little girly things.

I have 2 of each. I think boys and girls can be equally bad! I do know as babies, my boys were so much easier! My fourth child is a little girl and she is by far the hardest and meanest kid of all 4 of them! Could be that she is the baby and gets away with more, but I know my boys were so much sweeter than she is!
