Check out Hot Chip. They're kinda new, but still good. They were featured in Rolling Stone magazine recently.

The truth is that soulful music is sadly being replaced by croaking raps, where you need some time to figure out whether someone is talking, crying or singing! I still think the day country musicians like Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers and the Don Williams of this world move on to the next world, true music will move along with them!

I have the same problem. Everything today either sounds the same or is some pre-fabricated band that you know will never have any staying powe. I listen to top 40 radio for more than 5 minutes and I just want to throw myself off the nearest bridge. My musical tastes are a little out there. I listen to mostly industrial music by bands like Skinny Puppy, Velvet Acid Christ and Hocico....not everyones cup of tea, but certainly different and original

It really depends what your into. I think State of Shock is a good new one if you like harder music or One Republic if you like things mellow.
