i have always said "shop places like Target, Walmart the week AFTER a holiday for clothes and you'll find great bargains". And it is still true. I missed Valentines Day , but now, after St Patricks Day, all the green stuff is on sale. I just bought 2 little summer dresses for my 2 year old grand daughter, $5 each (regularly $9.99) I got 2, but I know they will drop to $2.50 if they have any left in a week or so. I'll check back then. often they do. I got 2 sets of PJ's for my 8 yo GD - $9.99 and they were Disney theme and regularely $19.99. It is her birthday presenet or I would have waited and gambled at it as pjs aren't a specific necessity - a pair of shorts and t-shirt are fine summer jammies. But I got socks for 50ยข - so what if htey have shamrocks on them? The girls love them! And the t-shirts were still $3 but next week they will be $1.25 so I'll stop by then. Iti s not a costly thing as Target is exactly right on my way home no matter where I go so it doesn't take extra gas to go there a few times a week. Plus that is where I go pick up a gallon of milk so I just combine trips. Give it a try. Shop after the holidays about 2 weeks for the bargains. It is fuN!

I always try to pick up bargins like that too. As I have worked retail, you are very correct. Now that Easter will be passing, it will be a great time to buy fancy dresses as they stock up for Easter sales. I just bought some nice sweaters the other day for $1.00 each. My girls and I were excited!!

Where did you get the $1 sweaters? I believe in stocking for the seasons too - I'll buy sweaters now and save them for fall - just buy a size or two larger!

I read this aloud to my husband and he said, "She is a smart shopper!" And check this out, he has a message for you, too. He wants you to know that we do that all of the time and in fact just got back from BigLots where we bought a whole cart of great stuff for pennies on the dollar. While we were there I didn't know the exact reference price for the Rubbermaid DeskMate organizers we saw, but it was clear that $5 each was a steal and I really needed a few: http://www.mysimon.com/9015-11047_8-41689790.html Looks like at the very least we saved $70 on the four I bought today! Yeppers, I'll take your advice!

I stopped going to BigLots when it changed from Pick and Save! P&S used to be my favorite store! Now it is Dollar Tree! Big Lots just went to high priced at least the one in my area and also dumpy. BUt glad to hear you guys still have a nice one and can get the bargains.

That is especially a good time to go! Same as September after all the "back to school" sales and they are closing out summer things.

OMG shopping after any holiday is like Christmas morning for me!!! Nothing beats a great sale. You're right who cares if it has...shamrocks or even hearts on it. I'm one of those hardcore shoppers who like to be prepared and buy things for the following year. Great way to get holiday decorations at a great price or even presents for comming holidays! Anytime i see baby clothes for a good price I buy them even if my little girl wont be wearing it for awhile. I live in Germany because my husband is stationed here right now so I miss going to those sales. So the only shopping i really get to do is on base and they don't have very good sales. Awesome discussion! I could talk about sales and shopping all day long!!

Yeah, I love talking bargains! I have been visiting Target at least once a week latelya nd have found where they hide all the clearance racks and just make the rounds! I found yesterday the PopTarts called "Go Tarts" and they are the same makings as pop-tarts, just in a bar instead of a thin layer. 10 bars for $1.74! And my favorite chocolate chip! They are great for lunches and snacks for my grand kids when they come...if there are any left over! But I get shoes for my 2 yo GD often for $5 tto!
