So I was reading the news today on MSNBC.com and they said that people in Philipines were volunteering to nail themselves on the cross to enact Jesus Christ's suffering. I mean people are actually getting themselves nailed to a cross because they believed that if they went through what Jesus went through that whatever is ailing them and their family members will go away. One guy has been doing it for 15 years.
Im sorry to say this but that is just going way too far to express your devotion. It must take a fearless person to let people grab a hammer and nails your behind to a cross. I saw a picture and this woman was actually getting nailed to a cross. Two guys with hammers were going nailing down each hand.
One guy said he has been doing it since 1995 and when he did it his brother was healed of measles. Now today his son has a stomach ailment therefore he will get his behind nailed to a cross.
Is it over the top superstition or just plain crazy?

It is actually superstition. Im from the philippines too. However, it is only some people from rural areas practice that thing. It is really gross and I don't like seeing those things but I just can't avoid them. It was a practice introduced by the Spaniards way way before. I know it just depends on the faith of the person. It Really happens but not all filipinos subscribe to this.
