I know how to cook, just frying and boiling and other super easy stuff. But I want to learn how to really cook dishes that I can be proud of. My parents are really great cooks but sadly, I didn;t get any cookinf genes from them. Maybe because I grew up not having to cook my food since my mother takes care of everything around the house. Are you a good cook?

I love cooking. Growing up I didn't really care for it. Like having to come home after school and start making supper. It was such a drag and I sure let my parents know. But now I can truly say that I love cooking. It's more come into a passion than anything. I love trying new dishes and if the first one doesn't come out I try it again. And keep working on it that way. I do find some recipes that I will change some of the ingredients. Best way to learn to cook would be getting cook books and making things that intrest you. It might not turn out the first time but keep going with it and you will perfect it after time.

I think I am decent at cooking, my partner is better though. He does most of our cooking since he enjoys it, and as I said he's better at it than I am. But don't be afraid to experiment. Try one new dish at a time- like make a tried & true item for your main course but experiment with your vegetables. Another time stick to an easy salad, but experiment with the main dish. There are so many resources for recipes online, poke around and try new stuff.

My fiancee's not that good in cooking, too, but he's better than me. That's why I really have to learn how to cook real dishes before we get married.

My mother was a great cook. However, she would never let me in her kitchen. I had to learn to cook all on my own. I bought a few cookbooks and just started experimenting. I love to cook and I make many of my meals from scratch. I don't believe in those ready meals at the grocery stores as you never know what you are eating. It is much healthier if you do all your own cooking. Just get some cookbooks and follow the recipes to the letter until you feel comfortable in changing them to your taste.

if anything, ask your mother or father if you can help them make something to eat.
it may be something easy as chicken salad, but it will be something that you can say that you helped in.
or if they have it, get into a class where there is cooking being taught.
and learn

i am, i can cook just about anything.
and i learned from both my grandmother as well as my mother.
they didnt mind a little thing as me ( younger) being around and helping them to get things ready when we would have dinner, or even lunch.

I would like to think I was a good cook all my efforts are well received by friends and family so I must be doing something right.
I learned the basics at home from my mum and also school but after I got married I just started to read receipes and basically have a go and see what happens.
Read your receipe through before you start to cook, at the beginning I probably read it through a couple of times in the days before I was going to attempt it.
You soon pick things up so don't worry get stuck in there and give it a go, not everything turns out perfectly but you will be surprised

Dear Nicky,
Anyone can be a good cook if you a try a little harder and if you really want to. Just start by trying out easier recipes, which you like very much. Follow the steps religiously and you'll succeed, for sure.
Cooking doesn't come with genes, so don't worry. It is something we learn. We will not be experts in oneday. I am also known as a good cook but there were days when I used to think like you. Now I can cook nicely, you'll also one day. All the best
