Don't you think that Jesus planed for Judas to betray him, so he can save the other disciple of his. So Judas was the one who has sacrificed?
This is an interesting about Judas betrayed Jesus:

Judas did betray Jesus. It was in the Bible.
Jesus came to earth to save mankind. This is the plan of God from the very beginning. The betrayal paved way to Jesus arrest but it doesn't mean that Judas was the hero.
Man has a free-will. Judas is a man. He is free to choose to or not to sell his loyalty to Christ by several silver coins. But because of his greed from the very beginning (I suspect he was also the one who said that the perfume should had sold and the money be given to the poor), he was succumbed into betraying Jesus Christ.
Judas made a mistake. He sinned. And I think he also repented. But the tragic thing is he hanged himself. But God has also plan for him. At the Great White Throne Judgement, God might give him the understanding to be saved.

WHO WROTE BIBLE? WHAT MAKE YOU BELIEVE IN BIBLE?

HOW DO YOU KNOW GOD'S PLAN? DID HE TELL YOU?

I don't intend to debate you whether or not the Bible is just a mere book made by a man or a truly divine scripture, though of course made by man but divinely inspired.
God's plan to mankind came through understanding of His word. It's just like knowing what we know no.. We know something because we read it and gain understanding from it. Like knowing the history of a certain country.
You're right. God's over-all plan or will is for someone to betray Christ so it will pave way to his arrest and then his crucifixion.
If you're a true seeker of truth, then try reading the Book with open mind. Erase all prejudice.

I do not believe there is strictly a yes or no answer to this question. I believe God gives all people a purpose they can chose to fulfill that purpose or not, thus we have free will. Judas knew that Jesus was destined to die for mankind so it is possible he did it to fulfill his destiny. That was his purpose. I would not really call it a sacrifice but he fulfilled his purpose which was necessary so that Jesus could die for us. What he did was both terrible and necessary. None of us know what was truly in his heart therefore we must trust that God knows what God is doing and let God decide.

This is an interesting concept of Judas. I think that Jesus just knew what was in The heart of Judas. I also believe that Judas had a chance to not go to the priests and be tray Jesus. We are given the idea that Judas was so interested in money that he betrayed Jesus. He objected to the oil that was bought to anoint his feet.
Judas must have repented of his act because he took the money back to the priests and threw it at their feet, then went out and hung himself when he realized what he did. I think tat he really realized then that Jesus was the Son of God.
I have read a book with the Idea that Judas thought that if he betrayed Jesus That Jesus would save him self and then become the Saviour that That they were looking for. The one to kick the Romans out of Israel.
