from my experience, a true friend is someone you know involuntarily that he or she is a true friend.Usually we pick up very few true friends during our course of life..The elements of love, compassion, understanding, mutual respect and admiration, tolerence etc combined in the right proportion suiting our particular need will form a true friendship. One test ofcourse is that you will feel quite relaxed when you are with him or her. Also the relatioship should not be businesslike...A very good point for discussion.

To me a real friend is one who I can be myself around, someone I love like family and who I would do anything for and know they would do anything for me. They are not afraid to tell me how it really is, even if it may be difficult for me to hear, but I know they still love me just the same. Real friends are few and far between and sadly, some people never get the chance to have a real friend, but those who do tend to treasure them more than gold.

a real true friend is one that would be there for you in a heartbeat when you needed them, one that wouldn't talk bad about you behind your back and nice to your face, and one that will be your friend reguardless of all your faults and mess ups. it's hard to find true friends these days that will be there for you at the moment you needed them though. they are few and far between. God bless
