I am feeling really lucky right now. I know many women on my support group that have had recurrences of their cancer. I was caught really early (if you want to call it that). I will tell my story and see if it sounds reminiscent of what you might have gone through.
I had a complete physical in January 2003 and had a clean bill of heath. I was missing periods every other month but didn't think much of it as I thought I was "going through the change". By July, I was having abdominal pains and my waist was growing. I went to the doctor to find out why the pain wasn't stopping and her answer at that time was I had a urinary tract infection. That may be, but it wasn't what I had gone there for. She said if it still hurt in a week to come back. I did go back a week later and she sent me for a CT. It took a couple of weeks to get that scheduled and when the results came back, the radiologist that read it had suggested an MRI because the scan was only the abdomen and it showed a mass but not the ovary. After the MRI, she called me in and scheduled an appointment with a gynecologist (she was just a family doctor). I saw that doctor at 10 am and she had me in with her teacher (she graduated from Duke University) that afternoon (I was the last patient of the day). I was in surgery a week later. Following the operation, the doctor told me I had stage one ovarian cancer as well as endometrial (uterine?) cancer. I went through 6 rounds of carbo/taxol and lost my hair, but since that time, I have been in good health.
What is your story?

It is great to read survivor stories although I have never had cancer a close aunt of mine has. She was diagnosed with bre@st cancer on Easter 2006 she had to have a mastecotmy becasue of where the lump was she was lucky and did not have to have chemo but she is taking the tamofixien which scares me becasue I read it can cause uterine cancer. She is scheduled for anohter mammagram April 1st so we will see how things are she also goes to an oncologist every 3 months to keep a check on things.
