Why does it say man lived so long before the flood? Did they really live that long? If you you think they did not then wouldn't you be saying the bible isn't the infallible word of God? If they did what caused them to be able to do so? I have heard some reasons but what have you heard or what do you think?

This is only my opinion, for God knows I wasn't there during the time. I think back then the people both men and women weren't exposed to the stuff we are now. Examples: air pollution, perservaties and additives in our food, they didn't smoke (an assumption), etc. So they had nothing killing them, the way we do now.
As I said, this is only my opinion.

I had heard somewhere that a possible explanation of longer life was that the oxygen content was higher and with higher oxygen content our bodies live longer, etc. Also I heard a theory that it never rained before the flood and the earth had water springs and an envelop of water around the earths atmosphere. This would have explained why there never was a rainbow before this time, and that God used this sign to tell man that he would never use a flood the world again. If this water envelop were true and the higher oxygen content were true then I would have loved to see and feel what this would have been like.

I believe thaat they lived that long. They took better care of themselves in those days. They were physically fit and worked very hard. I personally believed that God shortened the lives of men because of all the wickedness in the world.

Yes I believe you are correct, I looked it up and in Genesis Chapter 6 it mentions this. Thanks for your comment.

There are really three explanations to this thought. One has been covered well, sin entered the world, therefore causing all kinds of ruckus. Also technology advanced and pollutants began entering the air.
The second can be found just after Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden and just before the flood. The Bible states that God removed the protection from the earth. I don't have a Bible handy, and have a shotty memory, so can't tell you the exact verbiage. But it means that before the fall of man, there was a protecting cover over the earth. Sort of like a greenhouse, the earth cared for itself, it had never seen rain. When that protecting cover was removed, it changed the earth an all that was in it. Now the plants would loose their vitality, as would the beast that ate them. Hence we hear reports that crops have less nutritional value every advancing decade.
Third, and perhaps the most valuable in this discusssion, and probably the most commonly overlooked, is the fact that the calandar we use today is almost nothing like the calendar of old. We have 12 months with roughly 30 days each. The old Hebrew calendar had 9 months with roughly 28 days in each...that would make age a big difference, wouldn't it?
