Why don`t we remember dreams?

I really simple question but a complicated answer, that I don`t really know. How come each morning we wake up and we don`t remember pleasent dreams but do remember some nightmares. Isn`t weird? Does someone have an answer for this?

Yes I agree that we do seem to remember the bad dreams, when I have a good dream I wake up with it in my head but after a few minutes I find I cannot remember it. Yet a nightmare will stay with me for days,
