is it possible for phone lines to be hacked?

and how do you do it? my friend was telling me about the phone calls that has been made by no one in their family, yet they were charged for overseas calls! so now i got curious if that was indeed posible and how do they do it.

Yes it can be!! Ant its quit easy to do u just need a battery phone, find the box connecting all the telephone cables and connect the phone to the terminals, although I don't think many do this... The calls overseas can also be caused by the internet if u use dial-up internet since when you connect to a server for example in australia you are like being calling to australia... :)

This isnt exactly true. If you connect to a server anywhere in the world you will likely only be paying for a local call as the only phone call you make is from your modem to your ISP, your ISP then forwards all your requests for you at no further charge. The only time you would be charged more is if some illegitimate software was installed on your computer this could take control of your modem and then start dialling premium rate numbers.

really? i never knew that, thanks for the info. but i really dont know how its possible to connect to an international server since the landline #s that you see on the prepaid internet card are local #s, so once you dial them you will instantly be connected to the net, i dunno how the ISP can connect to an international server in that mannner.. and of course, i think they'd be against the idea coz they will be the ones that are gonna be charged for the calls made..
