In my opinion young people should abort unless they have a stable economy and can maintain there baby. Since many young people are not able to do this, why do they want to have a baby instead of abortion, when they cannit take care of it. For example, in Colombia, Venezuela etc many 15 and 16 year old girls are having a baby and they have not even finished school, do they expect to be able to finish school, work to be able to pay for the food of the baby and have free time as 16 year old, to have fun. Do they destroy their live or are they going to be able to manage the pressure. What do you think? Would you abort? Would you have a baby when you can`t pay for the food or anything? Very serious problem in many parts of the world and a important responsible for young people.

I had my first child at 16. I was in high school, worked part-time and cared for my son. It's 19 years later, I own a home, my own business and I have had 3 more children. I wouldn't change any of it for anything.
I am pro-choice, but pro-choice means the woman experiencing the pregnancy chooses whether she should continue that pregnancy or not. Regardless of the woman's age, martial status, financial status or any other variable; the decision belongs to the woman alone.

Well I believe that is something to admire and you should be glad. But you have to take into consideration that I`m mostly taking about Venezuela and Colombia where life is much harsher that anywhere else. I have lived in Colombia and it is very difficult to find a job and study, the salary is very low and the food is expensive according to the salary there. It`s no easy task.

well that is total ignorance... if someone gives birth to a baby at that tender age and for that the minimum age for marriage for be heightened.. and more than that ... they should not be allowed to have that baby as they are not economically sound... that way they will not be able to take the burden of another person.

I think that it is desturbing. Why would you want to kill a baby innocently. I think that it is just crazy. Why would you want to just kill someone so innocently. If God brought it or made it for some reason, evidently it had a purpose. See we all have purpose so it is our job to find out what our calling or purpose is.

Your bible says go forth and multiply, it doesn't say go forth and use calculus to over populate the earth. If you believe in saving every baby because it is gods will for the girl to get pregnant then you are a hypocrite for trying to thwart gods will by curing the sick and injured, which also happened as a result of gods will.

abortion is a sin. so, i advice to those people who make love at early age is to be responsible and think first on the consequence.. love making is not a joke, u should be responsible when u do it.

I don't agree with abortion,it just like killing a kid.
However, giving birth to a young baby without having the ability to help him grow up, well, it's kind of killing him in another way.so from this point, I must say that it depends on your situation.if you have the ability to raise him up,no matter how young you are,you shouldn't get abortion.

so what if it is killing a potential person, we have way too many people on this earth to add more needlessly. Assuming every woman only has 1 baby ever we could hold the population steady. That just doesn't happen, not to mention the world needs fewer people if we are to avoid wars of over food and water instead of oil and religion in the coming decades.
If you want to talk about kids not having a chance to grow up. The time is coming a lot sooner than you expect for every kid that lives to be born, and not just in third world countries either. Frankly put when the world only has so many resources and we are only willing to pay so much. You can bet in the next dozen years when oil hits $200 a barrel or even by the time it is $150 we will becoming a major biofuel producing country. We won't have enough foods to export either, partially because we keep having an excess of children needing energy resources. There will come a time in the very near future when the most lucrative business to be in will be farming. if you think the twenty percent rise in groceries prices over the last year and a half is excessive, wait until farmers decide to buck wheat and corn in favor of switchgrass or an oilseed crops which are more effective for producing biofuels. There will be a food shortage soon enough.
It goes further than that though we have three nuclear powered nations Pakistan, India and China who are all battling over water resources. If anyone thinks the Tibet situation is over ideals you are severely misinformed. That fight is about who controls the water resources starting in the Himalaya. Many African nations are going as far as committing genocide over water. With the continued pollution of the amazon and destruction of the rainforests which silts up so many small waterways, war over water isn't far off there either. With Diesel fuel selling at ten or more bucks a gallon, you can damned well bet we won't commit military resources to stop them either.
If you think illegal border crossings are bed now, there will come a time when it is worth dying to make an attempt. Even the threat of being shot on sight won't deter very many, and everyone that makes it will be one more we support with food that could be going into your grandkids mouth. before you say we shouldn't stop some innocent kid now from being born realize 7 out of 10 girls who have a baby before she graduates from eighteen have another one before she is twenty and her average will have four kids before she is thirty. The one thing the last thirty five years have shown us is 80% girls born to a mother before she is sixteen go on to do the same and nearly half of them have one younger before they get to be as old as their mother was when they were born.
Stop and think what that one child who won't grow up has the potential to do to a dozen more a generation or two down the line. Think before you say it is just a baby and should be born, because it didn't do no wrong. Its very existence causes great incalculable dame to us as a people and a our planet.

perhaps *having fun* was the cause of their troubles. apart from being forced into the marriage act (when not married) these girls should not be entertaining themselves in such a manner - especially if they are not equipped to manage the fruits of their actions.
Willful abortion is out of the question to me. (no matter what)

I am sad to see it. I think they should have enough protection before they have a relationship. It's so harmful for young people to have an abortion. It's harmful for mental and body. They should take methods to avoid getting pregnancy. It's not the right time.

okay after reading several responses, i really felt like i needed to respond. if these young couples aren't doing anything to protect themselves from getting pregnant, then no they shouldn't have an abortion just because they are young. if you think your old enough to lay down and act like an adult then you should take the responsibility of what you did. it totally makes me sick that people are using abortion as a form of birth control. it's absolutely ridiculous and yes they should have the baby. you lay down, you deal with it. God bless

i think abortion is murder. i would have the baby and give to another family. i know i can always have another baby when i am in a position to care for it. abortion is too much for a young person to handle. its something that sticks with you for life.
young people today have enough to deal with as it is.

I don't think abortion for those selfish reasons you mentioned are to be considered or done. First and foremost, young girls must learn to suffer the consequences of their actions and abortion is not an easy way out because the guilt will forever haunt them aside from the physical trauma abortion could cause on them.
I was 19 when I got pregnant but never did I consider abortion. I haven't finish college, got no job so I can say I can't even feed myself. But abortion was never an option. I can have my baby adopted or ask for my parents or relatives help for the mean time. You see, we have a lot of option and we must never ever think of killing an unborn child, so innocent of his/her parents' mistakes.
You're maybe right that a 15-16 or 17-uear old has the right to choose for his right to study, have fun, etc but what about the child? Did the child choose to be inside a selfish teenagers' body?
Bottomline is, we must be responsible at all times. If we are not ready to have a child, we must be extra careful not to conceive or or better yet ABSTAIN!

I think we should abort all mouthy teenagers... but that wasn't what you were asking, even if it worthy of a best answer.
We need fewer people on the planet not more. We also should be doing everything in our power to discourage young women from having babies including providing free abortions. We have too few resources in this country and across the planet to be encouraging any kind of population growth especially with mothers who are not financially responsible enough to provide for them.
If you don't like abortions for population control, then you should be doing EVERYTHING in your power to prevent the pregnancy not just promoting the answer you like and makes you feel morally superior.
