When you purchase things, your buying motive is rational or emotional?

From my point of view, all the girls like going shopping which seems to be their nature. Girls, how about your purchasing motive? Is it a rational one or an emotional one? Sometimes my buying purpose belongs to the latter. I am easily influenced by the shopkeeper's selling trick. Haha! Once I bought a dress at half of its original price in the winter. Next summer I found that it was too narrow for me to wear for I became a trifle fat. Funny, isn't it? I intended to save money, however the result... How about you? Are you a sensible person when you are buying?
