Namaste Well some things about Reiki that varies between Japanese tradition and Western one. Sensei Hawayo Takata spread Reiki firstly to American people by changing alittlew the truth with the intention to make these Cristian people to accept this miraculous modality as better as possible. For this reason she started to say that sensei Mikao Usui was a Cristian teacher who was teaching Theologie at a university and the rest known story that each western Reiki practioner learned from the 1st level of the Usui Shiki Reiki Ryoho Gakkai. In fact sensei Mikao Usui was a warm Buddhist of Tendai Buddhism for this reason his system, our Reiki, is based on Buddhistic practices and techniques. And its main purpose is to help humanity to reach the enlightment levels which has as a "side effect" the ability to heal physical and mental or emotional illneses thats why its called holistic healing system. Something else is that sensei Mikao Usui never used to teach techniques for chakra system or vital organs or attuning rituals as they are taught to us all today. He was teaching life qualities and spiritual development techniques as meditation and discipline and basic hand positions on head only because he has the theory that if the head is treated then all the body functions work properly. He was not a doctor as sensei Chujiro Hayashi who added the chakra system and body hand positions for various illneses in the system. Then Hawayo Takata added the attunement rituals.
