do you have just have to pick up things that were not on your shopping list just because you see it, no matter or big or small, do you go out for a pair of shoes and comeback with two pairs justifying the second pair was on sale. do you go for groceries and pick up extra groceries because the packaging looked go, or it was something new to try? do you go to do errands and end up coming home with some donuts or other goodies, do you buy a bag of chips to munch on while you changing subways or waiting on the bus. what kind of shopper are you and what kind of compulsive shopping do you do if you do it at all

I'm actually not a crazy shopper. When I shop I usually look for deals, like clearances, or something like discounts. I do not try to always buy the most expensive things just because it looks appealing. No that is definietly a no, no time to waste with money. I try to be as conservative as I can. I really do not understand why people want to spend all of their hard earn money on shopping. I will say that African Americans are good for just spending money for no reason. If we had 5 dollars, we would spend it in about 30 minutes. But overall people we need to learn to budget our money.

No, I am not a compulsive shopper but I know a few! I am the exact opposite. I won't buy myself stuff that I actually do need! My husband is a compulsive shopper when he is on his own. He is a sucker for packaging! He also buys stuff without paying attention to price. He is getting better but it still drives me crazy sometimes! I know people that go to the store for one thing and leave with a cart full almost every time they go to a store! And they go almost every day.

For me it is I only allow so much money, so if I can get a few extra's with the money I alot for that shopping trip, then I do. Most times it does not work that way ,I have just enough for what I needed. But every once in a while there will be something on sale that will free up some of that money and I can get someting extra. My sister thinks I am to much of a penny pincher, but I have a pretty tight budget. Not to much room for extra's.

Hi winterose. I am a compulsive buyer yet trying this year to get rid of that disease. Everytime I go shopping, I ended up buying things that arent necessary or need at the moment. When I enter a mall, I will not go home with an empty hand. Cant help to drool over to new stocks or goods that are on sale. My boyfriend sometimes tease me that when I go even to small store with a hundred bucks to buy a toothpaste, I will go out buying shampoo and etc and nothing left with my money. This year, I prioritize controlling my finances. Thats why I always write the things I need for a week. So everytime I shop, the list is with me and need to stick to it. I feel weak everytime I see things on sale, I have to drag away myself so as not to be tempted.

I very rarely go out shopping any more because I don't enjoy trudging round the shops with crowds of people. I much prefer to shop online, and have the excitement of waiting for a package to arrive. However, I am very guilty of picking extra things up that I haven't gone out for, when I do decide to go out. When I'm on holiday and browsing round the shops I do it often. It depends really on how tight a budget I'm shopping on. Brightest Blessings and happy shopping!

Yes, I believe I am a compulsive shopper. That's why when I'm on a tight budget, I only bring money that I can afford to spend when I go out. I don't bring a list. Oh, well, I do, just to remind me of what to buy. But sticking to the list, heck, no! :D I always tend to buy extra things. New things with new packaging. I'm fond of trying new things. I do buy donuts and goodies for my kid or any kind of surprise that she expects me to bring when I go out. Lastly, I also buy chips/snacks that I can eat during my ride home, if I don't have time time to eat in the mall. This usually happens because I stay till store closing just going around for best and bargain buys. :)

i dont shop alot but when i do, i generally find really good deals. like the time when i went into walmart and they had clothes on sale for $4- each and i bought a few things for my daughters or the time i found ballet flats for $3-...if it is a very good price and i have a use for it, then i buy it!

yea i am a compulsive shopper, from groceries to clothes, shoes, bags to accessories. then everytime i get home i'd go 'i can live without this'. now what i do everytime i want to buy something like a shoes for example, i'd go around and look for some more, telling myself that i could find a better pair. if i see a lot of nice shoes, i usually get confused what to buy so i'd end up not buying. :) or going around some more takes my minds of things i want to buy but doesn't need.

that is a great strategy to think about first, because lots of times you do change your mind.

No, not really. I normally just buy what I need. But sometimes, I will splurge a bit if I feel too pent up or it is something I really want.

I find I add certain things that were not on my list like exotic cheeses or a ready made salad but I am not nearly as bad as my husband was. i could give him alist of four items and he would end up with nine or ten mostly unusual things or ready to eat stuff I will say his taste was excellent and we always ate what he bought.

I try to make a list whenever I go shopping but I might as well throw it out the window, or just save paper and never write one. I always come home with extras. Usually, because it was a good price being on sale. I don't make expensive compulsive purchases though, its always just a few dollars worth of extra goodies.

I wouldn't say that I am a compulsive shopper, but I do like to buy certain things "while I'm in the area." I might pick up a half a dozen Coffee Crisp bars or something like that, to keep in the fridge, incase I might want one. I don't buy big things, just little things here and there, because I know I'll enjoy them later on.

I never go out and spend money that we do not have to spend. times are very hard right now and we have to make sure to spend every nickel we have wisely. I was never a compulsive shopper even before this either. I always make a list of the things we need or want and we only buy the things we can afford and that is it. We are under hard times now though because my husband makes less money and I cannot hardly cover the loss either.

If I am out shopping, I do pick up items that is not on the shopping list. However, most are what I know will be welcome items at home. Oh yes, I do justify the purchase of a second pair of shoes by buying the second pair in a real sales.

well it could apply to online shopping too, do you see something and then decide to buy it but you were not looking for it before?

Last year, that description you wrote there was me! This year however I have been very strict on keeping to my lists and if it is not on there, it does not get bought and I have stuck to it like glue!!
