Can men ever understand women?

A man walking along a California beach was deep in prayer. All of a sudden, he said out loud, "Lord grant me one wish." Suddenly the sky clouded above his head and in a booming voice the Lord said, "Because you have TRIED to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish." The man said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can drive over anytime I want." The Lord said, "Your request is very materialistic. Think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking. The supports required to reach the bottom of the Pacific! The concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of another wish, a wish you think would honour and glorify me." The man thought about it for a long time. Finally he said, "Lord, I wish that I could understand women. I want to know how they feel inside, what they are thinking when they give me the silent treatment, why they cry, what they mean when they say 'nothing', and how I can make a woman truly happy." The Lord replied, "You want two lanes or four lanes on that bridge?" OK ... so it's irreverent! I'd like you to know that the Lord likes a joke too!

Yes, God wants us to laugh and enjoy life! I'm sure He enjoys a good joke on Himself. As far as men understanding women, I think they could if they'd try a little harder. I've been married for 30 years, and my husband still asks me things like "Do you like to go shopping?" or "Would you like to have spinach for supper?" when he should know full well that I detest both. How is he ever supposed to understand me if he hasn't really gotten to know me after all this time?

snowflake candle - snowflake candle
I think as long as we can all laugh heartily about little gaffes like these, then everything is going well! Once we become irritated at people's lack of understanding, then it's time for a 'renewal' ... or a rethink ... or something! You know, we try ever so hard to understand our women and just as we are congratulating ourselves that we have got it right, they throw a switch (or something) and react totally differently and we have to start over!

I think that can be a real problem for those who don't like normal "girl" stuff, my partner and my dad don't seem to have figured out that just because shopping is associated with women, doesn't mean that I have to like it too!

Men are not supposed to understand women, they are just supposed to accept them as they are and love them for it. Women are clever enough to change just at the moment you think you've started to understand them. The only man I've met who half understands women is gay.

I like that joke and no, men will NEVER understand women, we don't want them to. :) Basically women want men to notice them when they've had a new hairdo and to say 'that looks lovely' and to compliment when a compliment is needed. We need hugs (well some of us do anyway), we need chocolate, we need men to realise they are wrong, it doesn't ever matter what the discussion is, men are wrong. Also, women always win an argument, in an argument, as soon as a man answer a woman it's the beginning of a new argument. :P

Maybe but not all at once, it would take a few lifetimes to understand ALL different types of women, just try to understand one and a time and see if that helps any.

It seems to me that men can understand most women if they choose to, but most men don't even try. I think one problem is that men tend to think of women as women rather than thinking of each one individually, I mean, if you have a group of male friends, you wouldn't treat them all the same because they are different people. Maybe if men were willing to understand and accept that each woman was different and would have to get to know each one individually, as he has got to know his male friends, that might help. I think I am fairly easy to understand but my partner never understands anything, nor does my dad but that has more to do with the fact that they don't listen. I say everything as clearly as I possibly can, dumb everything down so they can't possibly misunderstand but then they don't understand. The thing is though, there have been so many times when I have said simple things and some bloke has said they didnt understand or that I was wrong and then gone on to say exactly what I said only in 97 words instead of 10.

*Laughing hard* I have a similar problem! I say things clearly in three sentences. It's the women in my life that want them explained - and repeated - and questioned - and expanded upon! Maybe I have just got in with a load of fluff-heads! When these fluff-heads are together, though, they do MIND-READING ... pouf! ... just a raised eyebrow and they 'understand' one's whole life history practically (never mind they got it wrong from the start!)

philosophically, medically, ideologocally, logically, practically, virtually, mentally, physically, men have tried in vain. but the simplest thing women think seems like a nuke project for us. maybe all gods of every religion should debug the complex program called women

Binary Tee - Coding on a Tee: http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/ladies/8333/
Maybe you are right! Any code written in Quaternary Plus is much harder to understand and debug than plain ordinary Binary!
