I got mine today!!! Yipee! Actually, gag me with a spoon!
I am refering to the letter from the IRS that "explains" that you will be getting a "rebate" check this summer. It wasn't even in an envelope. It is one of those with the tear off edges on three sides things. I looked at postage and it says "Presorted First Class mail" - First class? Why couldn't they have saved some money and sent them BULK rate? It also says on the front in RED letters "Do Not Throw Away!" So not only are we stupid and wont' know why we are getting this mysterious check for $600-$1200 in May but we have to be told what to do with this letter too? And everyone gets one at the cost of $43 million. Wonder what tax they will raise to pay back the IRS for this expense?
basically it literally said exactly what was in the article I posted here last week. Only thing left out was the commentary that was in the article.

I heard something about this a few weeks ago, only I thought it was they were going to just tax, you. As though it were added income. I guess I am not at all surprised, so basically it is like a little loan, that we did not ask for. Hmmmm...Well 2009 tax year will be interesting won't it. Wonder what they will come up with then, when the recession is heading to a depression.Because so many people are not informed, and so many count on those funds every year. This will definately hurt some I am sure of that. Thanks for keeping us informed I for one appreciate the heads up.
