I like to think. Recently I've been thinking about just how much emphasis is placed on money in this age and in this culture. Okay, it provides me with cool stuff and cool experiences. But, I've found that without the use of money, I am ten times more creative and rely more on relationships which is what I care about in life anyway.
Allow me to paraphrase a line from the movie "Into The Wild": money makes you cautious.
The last thing I need in this little trite short life of mine is something to make me more cautious than my small suburban world already is.
Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that...yes society has placed money high up there today...for me its not the money..its the things you can get with it..the nice car, the house, the toys (as in cell phone,computers..etc) its the freedom to do what ever when ever you want. And if you think about it ...without money your not happy because your not able to get what you want/need...

It sad to say but money is really important nowadays. I really hate to think about money problems but I can't avoid it. We have to face the fact that it's difficult to live without money. Almost all the things we need to live requires money before you have it. I think air and light are the only thing in this world that are free. : )

Thanks for the response. I'm not an advocate of living without money -- but living with enough money is what I'm going for. No IRA, not that much savings, a lot of giving and living and using money for great things. But it's the great things I'm after, not the money. There's a big difference. Some good questions:
Do you need a house? Can't you just rent and live a simpler life that way.
Do you need to retire? Probably not.
Do those previous things add to your personal happiness? In my experience: NO.
Any thoughts?

Money is important in real world because we got to live (eat and live). For life, can you live without money in the world ?
Cheers.
