Call me and Put me on hold

Usually, the autodialer dials your number, and then if you don't answer it leaves a recorded message on your voicemail. if they do get you, then a real person comes on the line. It could be immediate or take a short amount of time. This way, people are not wasting time if you are not there. These calls are usually collection calls. They are not typically regular telemarketers.

I usually will hang up as I figure it is a sales pitch that I am not interested in anyhow. shoot if it was so blasted important they would have called me personally instead of having a machine do it for them.

aagh those ones drive me nuts! someone above said that they are not regular telemarketers but collection calls. thats not necessairly true.ive sat and waited at least 3 times and i know that a couple of the others in my house have done the same, and they werent for any collection, but instead were trying to get us to sign up for some kind of identity protection service on whatever card we may have at the time!! one was for buying an extended warrenty on my brand new car..which i did NOT have, like i would buy a warrenty from some random company that called me anyways! im sure some of them are collection agencies but certainly not all lol! personally i find it very rude..i need to remember what you did and try that myself lol!

Haven't read all the responses but are you on the do not call registry? That really helps! But I hate those calls, I know as soon as I hear it that it's a telemarketer and hang up.

It's freakin' RUDE! I don't care who you are, if you call me and then put me on hold ... you're history! I hang-up immediately and often I go so far as to block the number. Friends and family that put me on hold get hung-up on as well.

I hate that.The last place I lived was apartment and I would always get calls about selling my house.

I hang up as soon as I hear the message. It makes me mad, if they have something to tell me, they should be there when I answer.

OMG I cannot stand that!!! I don't like being on hold when I call somebody, but I stand it because its an important call and I need to get through. But how in the hell do you propose to call me, and then put me on hold? Here are my responses that I have had lately to such calls. "All our representatives are busy," Then call me back when your not busy!!! "We have an important message for you, please hold." If its so important then call me back with a live person. (I pick up and it starts ringing) How you gonna call me to call you?!? (Music) Well, the music you have sounds good, but I'm still not holding. This is a turn that customer service needs to get rid of. People already hate being on hold in the first place, what makes them think that they are going to stand for being put on hold when they didn't even call?!?

No I do not get any calls like this, but then I am in UK. But we do get calls where you answer the phone and no one is there but you can hear the call centre in the background, but then if the call is not taken by the other end it automatically hangs up. So that is annoying!

Every freaking day at work I get these calls! Several of them throughout the day! Ugh! I hate that too! And, I either just let them keep ringing as I sometimes recognize the name of the company from the caller I.D., or I pick the phone up, hear the message and then I do put them on hold myself! I'll leave the phone on hold sometimes because I forgot I did it! LOL! I also hate those calls where, when you answer, no one is there at first because it is an auto-dialer. I will just hang up if I answer and no one is there. My policy is, if it is important and you aren't there right when I greet you, you don't deserve even a second Hello to make sure you are there. Forget you! I have better things to do with my day then say hello over and over again until you decide to pick the phone up and speak back at me! Be there or be gone!

You know its quite funny - I havent gotten those type of calls in awhile. I have had so many telemarketers call me on the US Skype numbers in the past, and I could confuse them when I tell them that I am in Ireland and no zip code here ! Its them paying for the phone call unless you are on the cell phone, so just put the phone down and go about your chores, etc.

I've had real people call me then say please hold while i take this other call. Thats even worse. I'd love to tell them no you called me I dont want to sit around and wait while you do something else, if its that important call back when you dont have to put me on hold. And see what they say. I tend to hang up as soon as i hear a mechanical voice. If they want to talk to me call with a real person and i will talk I'm not phoning them back to find out what they have to say either. I hate the ones also that say please call us at this # we have an important message for you. Well dont waste my time having me listen to a message and having to call and then get put on hold for hours.
