My highschool class is having a reunion this May. It's been 20 years since graduation. after 20 years, i will be seeing the man who first broke my heart.
A few days after graduation, my ex-boyfriend broke up with me, for some reason I did not really understand because I was crying terribly. I was badly hurt, for he was my first love.
I was so mad at him, and at myself for stupidly falling in-love. Whenever we have our reunion, I come up with excuses just so I don't see him again.
Well it's been 20 years. Maybe I should attend the reunion and get this over with. But what do I say to him if he comes over and says hi?

You need not say anything...just a simple "hi" will do. It's been 20 years and I'm sure you have overcomed all of what had happened to you. You will be bringing your family with you, right? and maybe he is too. You already have lives of your own so why bother about the past. I don't see any reason why you should shy away from him. You will be meeting all of your classmates, not only him. I think the passage of time has already resolved the issues you had before and it will just be a laughing matter if in case the conversation touches it. Relax, there's nothing to worry and enjoy the party.

Hi Heart! He's not coming to the reunion. He is now based in California (I think), and those in the U.S. are planning to celebrate in Las Vegas. Which means, I will not be seeing him! Hoorraayy!!! :)

Well 20 years is a very long time to hold a grudge against someone. You might feel a huge sense of relief just in talking to him again and catching up. You had something special together once so you can surely come up with something to talk about. Maybe you each have kids you could talk about etc. My high school reunion is coming up this summer and the hardest part for me will be the fact that my ex and I graduated together and we split up a year ago. If I take a male with me just as a friend so I dont have to go alone he will automatically assume that I am dating the guy and I think it will hurt him to see me hanging out with a guy. Then maybe he will drink to much and embarrass himself in front of our former classmates.
