Search on for naked NZ news anchor
Articulate, presentable, comfortable in your own skin? The latter is vital for New Zealand's independent TV channel Alt which plans to screen a naked news bulletin nightly from late April.
Alt is calling for applications for a news anchor.
Applicants should have "no inhibitions on reporting on the facts that matter, delivering hard hitting commentary and showing their 'assets' in front of a large news hungry audience," the channel said.
It has invited "young women with the ability to speak clearly, articulately and confidently, are well-presented and comfortable in their own skin," to apply for a live audition.
It's going to be tough for the contenders. The channel said it would have a "four week search" to get the right person to front Naked News Flash.
Applicants aren't asked for a tape of previous news reading stints, but they are asked to provide a topless photo. They must also prove they are 20 and give details of previous experience.
Naked fame might be fleeting though. The successful newsreader will have a contract for three months.
The idea behind the show comes from Alt's creative director Oliver Driver, though it is borrowed from Canada, where the nakednews.com website began in 2000 and at the height of its popularity was receiving six million hits a month.
Driver said that although there might be critics saying objectification would overshadow news content, "integrity will not be sacrificed for flesh".
"Naturally there will be a strong sense of newsworthiness on the show with highlights from the daily news. But there will of course be that little bit of titillation to draw in the viewer's attention."
The first broadcast of the naked news is due on April 28.

hello there to U...i've heard also the news before and have seen it reported on t.v...but they didn't show the whole thing about it on t.v. because it's censored, some kids might be watching it, so they just reported it...
Well, as for me, i don't know why they come up with that idea...i mean, why would news anchors do that stuff, showing their flesh on t.v...
When i've heard and seen that news, i just told myself, "is that for real?" Why would they do that thing? Are they just kidding or something?
But maybe they're not kidding because they aren't kids anymore, LOL...but the question is, why?
I don't know what's happening to our world today...they just make themselves putting down...i mean they make themselves look "cheap" or humiliating themselves...
But it's not for us to judge them...i don't want to judge other people but for conscience sake', why would they come up with that idea...
Well, i guess, their network isn't that popular...maybe they really just want people's attention...in other words, they want to become "popular" and be a hit to all over the world...
So i think, we can do nothing about it...that's their life...they will do anything just to gain popularity, even if it's their dignity is at stake...
Fortunately, here in our country there's no such stuffs...it's good to see a clean and orderly news delivery reports on t.v...
You don't need to do those stuffs just to get the attention of the viewers...delivering news is a good thing and important, but not in that way...
I think, having a good dignity in life is the best policy...having a respect in yourself and good principles in life is much better than popularity...
I hope it's ok to you, if i did say all my views here...this is a good and informative discussion...have a blessed day ahead of U...may GOD BLESS U & UR family always!!!

I don't know what the point is!
We watched the nakednews.com once...and we hardly heard the news! We were too shocked by what the woman was doing...though we did watch it to check it out.
I can very well imagine that they got more viewers...watching 'you know what'....but I doubt if anyone was watching to hear the news!
