There are some issues on malfunctions lately. In result, people become more and more afraid to go to doctors. And so it comes up with alternative healing.
I myself prefer alternative healing to doctors. I have experienced this and find that it is more effective than doctors.
Do you prefer alternative healing or still trust the doctors? please give the reason. thx..

If it is for diagnosis, I will trust the doctor but, if there is a way to heal me naturally with alternative (herbal) medicines, I will try that first from now on.
Here is the reason. Every 6 months, I have to take an antibiotic (Amoxicilin) to protect my heart from infection when I go to the dentist. Anti-biotics deplete your immune system to practically nothing. So, add that to the anti-biotic my doctor usually gives me once a year anywhere around October or November when I get my first cold or Bronchitis, which I then suffer with for the next 3 months because my immune system has again been depleted to nothing and I can't fight off any of the other illnesses that I might come into contact with. So, sometime in February I went to an herbal remedies store in my neighborhood and asked about something to boost my immune system. She gave me three different kinds and I have been fine ever since. The reason I went was because I had started my 5th cold of the season which would have taken my suffering to roughly 4 or 5 months instead of the usual 3. It had already been 3 months of suffering for me. Within less than two weeks, I was well again. Finally! So, now I will continue to take the immune boosters and I have added something with Nettle in it to fight allergies. It all seems to be working really well!
So, yes! Alternative medicine is for me.

See you prefer natural or herbal cures to...if you look at my response right below yours you'll see why I prefer natural cures as well. Is one of the immune builders you take Echinacea? I've been taking that for years...garlic pills are good as an overall cure for just about everything--Mmmm..heard about nettle but never used it...will have to try

Doctors are little bit prescription happy and, they don't seem to care that some of these prescriptions can cause major side effects. From Birth Control to depression and everything in between. I would rather do everything I can to try to make myself better before I resort to prescription meds now.
The immune booster that I take are not Echanecea (sp). I will have to check tomorrow at work as I left my bottles there. One is something like HCP-TX or something and the other is ARA-Larix. I don't really know why they work. I only know that they do which after almost all of my life, being sick for 3 consecutive months each year...if not more...and finally finding something that makes me better without doing any harm at all to my body...Whew! I can't even begin to express how happy I am to have found them.
And, I can't remember the name of the stuff I am taking to keep the allergies at bay. I just know it has nettle in it which is supposed to be the best way to fight allergies. It is working so far. I have had a few symptoms like some itchy or irritated eyes and the occasional sneeze. But, I was so sick last year by this time that I thought my head was going to explode. It was my worst year ever. My eyes were swollen, my sinuses hurt like nothing I had ever experienced...and I get migraines. It was just so horrible last that I promised myself that I would do something about it this year to make sure it, at least, didn't get so bad. But, I will try to remember to check tomorrow. And, I'll try to let you know!
I actually cook with garlic several times a week. I know it is really good for your health.

do you know a plant called piper crocatum? the leaves of this plant are natural anti-biotics for curing diseases like cancer, diabetes, hyper/hypo tension, inflammation, etc. it's a very popular one here in Indonesia. if you can find any, take 3 leaves, squezee and boil them. drink the water afterwards and take it 2 times a day. here we already have it on capsules. it's very good and proven working.

I think I inherit my great-grandmother's viewpoint of doctors in general..she was a nurse who quite frankly thought all doctors as idiots. She was way ahead of her time and knew every single herbal or natural cure going. She never took anything stronger than aspirin and lived to be 98 years old! Yes, I do go to doctors but I don't necessarily get every prescription filled that he recommends...in fact one time he wanted to prescribe one medication to me..before I got it filled out, I looked it up and the side effects. It just so happened it was a medication that had severe warnings that it could trigger strokes and heart attacks..needless to say I DIDN'T get it filled. Like my great-grandmother, I try to use as many natural cures as possible

Hi Jofeli,
This topic is so close to my heart. I would trust traditional western medicine for a diagnosis coz the diagnostic process is so advanced and so fast and so accurate these days. But, because everything is computerized and the machines invested in are costly, the hospitals make you pay through the nose for it. I often find that I spend upto thousand rupees(that's a lot of Indian money!) for a simple cold/ throat infection and I don't get cured anyway. The cold has to run its course. The anti-biotics prescribed are new in the market. They are costly and the more potent they are, the more damaging to the liver and what not. In addition to your cold you end up with a stomache problem and a lot of heart ache at the thought of all the money spent. definitely there are certain problems like a cold and sore throat that respond better to Homeopathy. The ignorant claim that homeopathic doctors give placebos, but if it works why not? I also personally know that Homeopathy and Ayurveda (Traditional Indian medicine)work wonders for stones in the gall bladder and kidneys and such. Incidentally, there is no western medicine for Hepatitis A (jaundice). There are miraculous cures in Unani (Islamic medicine practised in India) and other native medicine. There are Unani doctors who can treat heart ailments quite effectively. Imagine the money saved not to speak of the stress!. No bypass surgery can guarantee a long life. So, why not Unani?....

like i said, the doctors only want our money and never truly care about their patients. many medicines are made with such complete formulas that they forget to consider the side effects it will carry to other (well-functioned) organs. what's the use if we get better in a wounded organ but get infected on the others? and yet, we should pay for that. what a waste! hence, keep on rocking with herbs.. :)
