As a teacher for elementary level. half of the students use a pencil for wrting down notes and homeworks. the other half use a pen.
Ireally find those writing with pencil is more organized and hardworking. while i find those writing with pen more creative.
I really dont know should i leave it the way it is or put a condition for using either a pen or a pencil.
if you are a student pls tell me what do you prefer.
others tell me which do you think is better?

Well I am gonna make a final comment here.
I have been told by a participant that there are types of pens that are erasable. so I really wondering if these types are widley distribuasted would the use of pencils becomes history?
is it all about erasing mistakes?

I am not a student...other than being a student of life. However, find this an interesting discussion...at any age. When I am writing for general purposes I prefer a black pen.
When I am writing in an address book or day-timer I prefer a pencil. Life changes so quickly and using a pencil allows me to 'erase' things in a less untidy way. Works for me!

Some use pencils so that they could easily do corrections with erasures and re-writes. That is indeed organized in a sense. Those who use pen seem to be either more assertive on what they write without hesitations or wouldn't mind any errors in their writings since, they themselves know the errors among themselves when they read their written work. I guess that goes with the personality of the person who is using the writing instrument.
We used pencils before and it was later on that we were allowed to use pens.

so youb suggest to leave it as it is. cause it reflects a type of personality.
I dont know my dear. but i think even personalities can be adjusted.

yes it seems wise. by using a pencil you can erase your mistakes. but as the next contribuator claims if you use a pen you will think 1000times before you do a mistake.
really, two ideas anigonist for each other.
that needs furthe discussion.

This is an interesting discussion as when i was at primary school we were only allowed to use pencils and i really enjoyed writing with my pencil and used it both at home and at school, they when we were moving up to secondry school we were encouraged to start writing in pen and it was a real struggle for myself. Nowadays I have have left school I always use a pen to write with but as soon as i start writing with a pencil i feel a lot more comfortable using it and my handwriting improves a great deal too. there is a lot to be said about the humble pencil. lol

I prefer to use pen with everything that I write. My children are home schooled and I will allow them to use pen some. However, I feel that it is best that they use pencil for the corrections to be made that I know will need to be made.

Hello goergineo! Welcome to mylot by the way, well I am the type of person the loves writting with pens. While I was in elementary school I loved writing with pencil, I used pencil all of the time. I didn't have to have a reason to use a pencil I just loved it. When I got in middle and highschool it was all about pens. There are decorative pens now and I love writing with them. When I write my cousin and his friend that are locked up I use pen. I feel like when I write in pen I am being more of an adult and when I write in pencil I feel as though I am still in elementary school. I fell like my creativity comes out when writing with pen and I seem to stay focus and on topic when using one. This was really a good discussion goergineo. Once again welcome to mylot. I feel like pen is better then pen and with that said NakitaLikely3617 is out!

I use both. It all depends on what I am writing or doing. If I am doing math problems or something like that I like to use a pencil so I can erase my mistakes, and then I don't have to completely restart my problem. I can just erase and continue from there. I like to write with a pen if I am writing down notes in class or something like that. I like writing with a pen alot better. Most of the time, I just use my laptop. I have sloppy handwriting so it is easier to read if I just type it. I just take my laptop to class.

As a college student I prefer to use a pencil. With pen you have to use white out or just scratch it out if there is not white out available to you. It just makes the paper look messy if there is white out and scratch outs. Also with a pencil you can erase it and the paper will not look as messy. I have OCD when it comes to things like that. My paper has to look nice even if it's just a paragraph or two or else I will not turn it in.

I prefer using pens as I don't have to sharpen it anymore. With pencil, when the tip isn't sharp enough, I find it hard to use, whereas if I use pen, I can just write and write and write.

While taking notes or in exams, pencil is better. Otherwise I will have to cross out your wrong words.
But while writing a document that mustn't be changed by a bad guy, I have to use pen of course.
If you say which one do I like, I like pencil more.

i prefer pencil cause i think pencil makes me feel free to write.I can draw a picture or write down anything I like on the textbook as I like, without worrying about anything.
Sometimes, ink may ruin paper or dirts our hands

Here in Manila, kids from prep to 3rd grade uses pencil. When a student reaches 4th Grade that's the time they will use pens.
In highschool and colleges, pencils are used for exmas but for taking down notes it's always the pen that they prefer to used.
