I had a wonderful experience this weekend while visiting my daughter 350 miles from here....we were shopping in Hobby Lobby and I was in the rubber stamp section when this lady strikes up a conversation with me about stamping cards! I told her a little about myself and she told me a little about herself and how we share this common interest. Before you know it we had exchanged emails (she was visiting a friend and she is from Washington state) and are going to share ideas! We just hit it off! Have you ever started a conversation or had someone start a conversation with you and you become friends? One of my best friends was demonstrating in a retail store when I met her!

Yes I have. I have to wait for a bus at a bus stop at a mall. It is the only bus stop so all the buses stop there. While I was waiting A guy struck up a conversation with me and we were friends ever since. The funny thing is that we Only see each other at the bus stop. He doesn't know my name and I don't know his.

Your story is so neat. Hope you remain in touch with her and enjoy your chats about stamping cards. Great to know someone who shares your interest in crafts.
Several years ago, when I got my first computer, I was so new and didn't know where to start so I searched and found a craft chatroom. I did alot of listening to others chat and finally became involved. Hit it off right away with a lady from California. After several months of chatting, we exhanged email addresses and finally phone numbers. We talked several times and I flew to meet her and her husband. Wonderful, fun people. It's been awhile since I visited her but we still remain in close touch. This friend is so much fun and each time I visited (6 or 7 times) we did plenty of laughing since we had so much in common.
Another time I was in Walgreen's and happen to run into someone I met many years earlier through another friend. We exchanged email addresses and are now very close friends. We meet for lunch, when our work schedules allow, or dinner.

Isn't it fun!!! My daughter got a little impatient though! LOL...she said. "You are just like grandpa"...my dad could go anywhere and sit down and strike up a conversation with someone. My parents used to visit during our fair as we have big entertainment and he was here sitting on a bench resting and struck up a conversation with someone who invited him to join the sons of Norway here! LOL....he lived 200 miles from here! But I will enjoy having someone new to exchange ideas with!

What a lovely thing to happen, thats really nice! The only time that ever really happened to me was about 5 years ago when I lived in another house, I was on a rough estate and had no friends. Anyway the people next door moved out and because it was a rough estate I was a bit worried about who was going to move in, but the woman that moved in was perfect, we hit it off straight away, had so much in common it was uncanny and even had 3 children of the same age. We both did not fit in the area we were living in and were not accepted by others and so it was a very close friendship and we went through a lot together. Unfortunately she moved about a year ago and lives quite far away now and with life taking over things as it does we do not see each other hardly anymore. So I am back to how it was before, but I have moved so I am not stuck in the rough part of town anymore, but I still do not seem to fit in and so I am back to being on my own with no friends (apart from my hubby and children, but that is not exactly the same as having a close girlfriend).
