I have been reading more about this event online at:
www.clangathering.org.
Anyone here belong to a Scottish Clan? I'm a Scott, but I'm afraid I won't be able to go. Too costly for me at this time. But I would love to be going.
Any other Scots here? My Scott's lived in Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and New York. Most of the one's I have any information about are from Georgia. I've done some research on them, but they are hard to find! My Grandfather Scott would be about 128 years old if he were still alive! lol
If anyone is going to Scotland to the Clan Gathering, I sure would love to hear about it after you come back!

Aww, you just know what I'd love to do...but yep,the money's not there for it.
I'm from McDonald, who are the Irish decendants of the MacDonalds, who are decended from the Domnial or Dombfuil or Domhnull clan (lotsa spellings!), ancient Kings of Scotland. *chuckle* Apparently there are lots of us around. We're the Smiths of Scotland!

Too bad it would be so much money, isn't it? According to "The 100 Most Common Scottish Names" in Scotland, on About.com, MacDonald is #9; mine, Scott is #10! lol Smith, however, is #1. :p

Sounds interesting, I don't know a lot about this, and no I'm not scottish... I went to scotland once though, really beautiful place - loved it.

Wow! You are so lucky! I would love to go for a visit. I've only seen it in films and photos...and it is beautiful!

Not only was the gathering of 2009 great, the one in 2010 was even better! way more people and more clan representation as well. Speeches were given my many including the chief of my clan, Donald Maclaren of Maclaren and Auchleskine. In his speech he urged clan chiefs and societies to form new ways of communicating and urged all to find the modern role of the clan.
