I was just reading a news article about Bhutan on Information Week, and apparently that country measures its' peoples happiness using a Gross National Happiness index. That's an interesting idea, a country actually caring about how happy its citizens are.

i have also read about GNH, and its so fascinating the people are still happy even though they have limited resources.. it would be so nice to have a country like that, a country that thinks about its people's happiness first before other things.,.

I have read where they use a GNH index. Kinda neat. Makes you wonder what the GNH index would be in a lot of countries.... USA included!

It's nice that they care, but I would imagine that it would be very hard to describe how happy a person is. Even harder to make a chart about how happy all people are.

that's really interesting. i hope our (Philippine) government cares for us (people) us much as they do. Bhutan is a small country but with happy people, they can progress since they'll be able to have good productivity as well.

What an interesting concept! It's great to know that something like this exists. It would be wonderful if every country were to do this because it would make people think. If a survey could be developed to accurately measure an individuals overall satisfaction with the areas of his or her life and then the results could be tabulated I think people would be very surprised at how they fared. Some would find out things were better than they thought and others would find out they needed a new outlook.
