Can you really make money on the internet?

I have seen so many ads where people have made thousands of dollars on the internet. Most of the ads require you to pay to find out the information. Which I will never do because it seems like a scam.
I stick to the websites that pay you for clicking on emails and ads. I only get a few pennies though. And don't see how anyone can quit their job and pay their bills this way unless you have hundreds of active referrals.
Has anyone on MyLot been able to quit their day job and just live off of money made from the internet?

Well I haven't found a way to make enough to equal what I'd get from working but at this point I cannot work outside the house. Whatever I can make on line is more then I'd make but it's not a lot. Still it helps. I'm currently fighting to get social security but for now I'm in limbo. Thankfully I have family to help me but what I earn right now just assists in things so I don't feel like I'm sponging completely off them. I wish I could find something on here to make more then but last year I earned about $1000 overall but it was my first year to really do it. I'm hoping to make a bit more this year but who knows for sure.

I started in August 2007 and this month I will make at least $650, but it is looking like more then that. It can be done. I think I can grow that amount into something huge, but it takes time and effort. If you would like to see what I am up to you can check out my profile (which is almost done) and my blog that is listed there.

I suppose it's possible but I wouldn't quit my job to just try to work on the internet. I do it for a hobby and I think it would take some time and work to pay the bills with online money. I don't feel secure trusting any website or group of sites for financial security. Things change, websites disappear without a trace. Lots of scams out here on the internet.
