Why are call center employees very prone to quitting their job? It is a very easy task and the pay is very good. What do you think are the main reasons for quitting?

Having an experience in the past working in a call center, I can say that what made me quit is just burn out. It has several factors, why I feel that way. About the company, the people that I am working with, the salary and the work itself. Here in the Philippines, salary for a call center job is quite high, at least compared to other jobs around. I have co-workers that are teacher, engineer ,nursing graduate and other profession but they resulted in call center job because they are either having difficult time finding job in their own profession or the payout in their profession is low. But in exchange for this high salary, there is so much from you are at stake. Personally here are my experiences, I lost time for myself. Since we require to work on grave yard shift, I hardly have time to go out. I make morning nightime and nightime day. I just sleep allday because I am very tired. Next, would be the job itself. The company's rules are always changing and if you don't follow you will be dinged. Customers screaming at you on the other line, things like this. The sad part is you cannot complain because they will say that you accepted this and you should accept the consequences. You just have to comply with everything and they set high expectations that some of them are really unfair. It is good for them but not for the employee. Then one day, I just couldn't take it no more, I said to myself, this is it! I need to resign. That is why I quit the job.

Thank you. I am also from the Philippines. I have been in the call center industry for four years and I really admit it is a bore. Many individuals begin to lose their self-esteem because the job makes you feel you are stuck on your seat forever. Say, what call center did you use to work at?

Is it okay if I do not specify the name of the company, but it is somewhere in Makati. Thanks for selecting me as the best response, I really appreciate it ! Have a blessed day ! :=)

My partner works in a call centre and the pay is dreadful. For the monthly pittance he has to put up with verbal abuse, shouting and swearing from people on the phone, threats and the often constant barrage leaves him drained and exhausted. He has to be polite and pleasant at all times, he cannot afford to lose his temper or answer back when someone calls him names. I am amazed he has stuck this job for three years now, but we need the money and at least he has a job. He would quit today if he could.

It is probably because of the pay rate. Plus this job it may be easy, but the only thing is that it is a boring and dull job. Who wants to work at a call center. If anything do a job that you know you would like to do.
