Oil prices are sky high and probably will continue to rise. As a result, prices of food and goods also rise. What can we do about this problem?

The main reason of rising high oil prices, as nobody mentioned it here, is the one sided war that took place betweeen US and Iraq. Iraq was one of the majot oil supplying companies and several oil wells were set on fire which lead to a panic situation and caused a spike in the rates of oil pricing. Infact its not over yet. Analysts say oil prices are going to touch $100 a barrel.
Reagarding the solution to this , there is little we can do as others had suggested, using bicycles to travel, alternative gas too cook etc. but i feel to have a better solution the govt needs to take up this mattter seriously. its not easy to get an alternative this fast. Lot of research has to go in this only which can only be funded by a country level. Vehicles which can run on compressed air would be the best solution

The cost of food has already gone up. Many stores have seen generic food items selling quicker than name brands. The main idea is to cut back not on just gas but all energy consumption - especially in the winter. Make sure your practice energy daving techniques. When you drive, don't le tyou car idle. Go into store instead of using the drive thorugh.
The best solution - buy a Hybrid car if you can. You will cut your gas usage and be more environmentally friendly

Write a letter to your goverment or if you are in the US write to your sentor and tell them to get a bill pass to put a end to all this bull and put a cap on the price of fuel with it should be and not let them make a cent more than it is worth...Use ethnol is it safe if you have a car that can use it. Also much cheaper and helps the famers in the world to make money to be able to stay growing crops and meat for us to eat.

Oil is precious because it is limited in avilability. In couple of decades well go dry. Because of complexities in supply and demand equations and also some oil rich countries want to blackmail other countries, and ever increasing population creating increased demand for limited product, price of oil keep increasing presently once in 3 months. In future, you should not get shock, if oil prices increase once a week may be once a day. You know once the oil price increases, prices of all commodities increase and people ask for higher wages to offset rise in prices. So overcome this problem we can contribute in the followig way:
1. use bycycles for short distance
2. Use public transport instead of car
3. Avoid journeys if it can be done by phone or internet
4. Donot invite people just for fun (because they burn the gas)
5. Look out for alternate fuel (vehicles that run by batteries, vegetable oils etc.)
6. Help identifying new and renewable energy sources
Like this, it goes on..... After reading this if you get ideas, add to this comment so that people get full facts at one place.
