I think mine would be the "Happy No Retail Shopping Day" Holiday! This would mean that all retail stores, grocery stores, drugstores, etc. would all be closed!!!! If you don't have it, you can make it until tomorrow. I can remember growing up in the 1970's when stores were closed on Sunday and all Holidays. I think our retail employees need those days off to - to celebrate with their families or whatever.
What are you thoughts on this?
What would you holiday be? The sky is the limit!!!

I don't know what my holiday would be named, but I do remember when the stores were closed on Sunday. If any store was opened on Sunday, they didn't sell clothes. I remember wanting to go look at a dress or something and my mom told me no huney they don't sell clothes on Sunday. I really didn't get it but was like OK mommie.
I think they need to go back to that. Everyone should have Sunday's off, so I think my holiday would be:
Happy Sunday Off day!

Hmmm... mine would have to be "Stay at Home Moms official non-working holiday" wherein all SAHMs are entitled to leave the house for a whole day leaving the kids, hubby, household chores and household worries behind.
During that holiday, SAHMs will not be allowed to be contacted by the family until the holiday is officially over and she returns back home.
Um, can this holiday be a weekly holiday? Er, okay, monthly perhaps? :)

I love it, but shouldn't we include working mom's also? I think we should but then would that me Mother's Day? I know on Mother's Day, I still wind up doing some of the activities you listed.

LOL No i would chose Step-moms day, they have a mothers day, a fathers day, and a grandparents day. Well us step moms are just important so they should have a step-moms day or step-parents day. LOL

Mine is easy. "Happy MY CHILD Has Stopped having NIGHTMARES DAY" This would mean that The once a week blood curdling screams would stop. And we couls sleep without our daughter between us sleeping horizontal to our vertical. Poor baby.
On the fun side, I'd like"HAPPY LOSE THOS LAST 10-15 POUNDs WITH NO EFFORT JUST BECAUSE DAY" I think this one speaks for itself!!lol

Oh it sounds like my oldest. She is 11 and has never been a great one to go to sleep at night. Now she swears there is someone in her room at night, or there is ghosts, or she hears noises outside. Every night it is something different. Spoke to her doctor about it and he said her diet need to be changed. Once she gets to sleep she is fine, it is just getting her there.
We are constantly playing musical beds in our house! LOL

How about A Happy No Restraunt or Food Vendors day. This of course would include bars as well. Now a days most food places stay open every day of the year. It would be a day when family's can all get together and eat at home as a family. No pizza Delivery, no Mcdonalds. Everyone would have to carry a lunch to work. I know us food service folks could use a day off for family or what ever.

Oh I agree! Back in the day EVERYTHING was closed down except for hospitals, police, etc.
We always use to joke that if you didn't get it before the stores closed before the holiday, you were out of luck until they opened.
Like I said my first job was in a pharmacy and the day before a holiday we were always busy. It's funny how everyone had to get their prescriptions filled because the pharmacy might have been closed one day. It wasn't since they were Jewish, but everyone thought so. We were always slammed and I honestly don't believe everyone all ran out of their meds the same day.

Do you work for one of the chain restaurants or a local place?
I know some people like to go out for Thanksgiving dinner. To be honest I have tried it twice and it doesn't feel like a holiday dinner when you are in a restaurant. One year we had about 20 of us and one year it was just 4 of us. Both felt very inpersonal to me.
