Why would you get baptised? What is the meaning of it to you? Do you think that being baptized will help you get to heaven?

Baptism is for a person to publicly show tier Acceptance of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. It is an outward expression of an inner belief. It publicly expresses ones belief that they are sinners and are offering a public repentance to God through their faith and belief in Jesus Christ.

well to me, being baptized is one way of accepting and remembering God in our lives. He also sends blessings to His children through baptism. it is a sacred act that has been started by John the Baptist in the Bible. well, it does not really say that you'll go to heaven as you are baptized. so how about those babys' who didnt live after being delivered and those who only lived for weeks on the mothers' womb? does that mean they wont go to heaven because they never experienced being baptized? of course not right? you get to heaven when you strongly believe and increase your faith on God's almightiness and walks on the path He is walking. this is my opinion..

I believe that all babies who don't live, or make it, do go to Heaven. It says in the Bible that they all belong to God, and if something happens he takes them back, up until the age of accountability, meaning when they are old enough to know right from wrong. There is only one way to get to Heaven and its not thru baptism only....

Well sweety I haven't been baptised yet but when I do it is about me and God and making a commitment to the relationship we have! I don't think it will help me get to heaven and it isn't about impressing anyone - it is about you and how you feel, Don't expect anyone to understand but it isn't about other peoples opinions so that isn't really important! xxxx

Thank you my friend - I hoped it made some sense! We all have our own beliefs (or lack of them) and I think that if we all accepted and respected each other the world would be a far nicer place to live! Good to meet you! xxx

Going through baptism is a requisite to Christians but it's not the whole thing. It is just an important part of it. Once baptized, a Christian has to keep Christ's commandments. Baptism is the start but it will become totally useless if the person who goes through that does not know how to live his life (which should be based on spirit and truth and not based on flesh and it's liking) after baptism.

Yeah, it's another requisite of course. Believe with all your heart then, be baptized. Acts 8:37

I'm personally a christian but have never understood the whole baptism thing aside the fact that it's an old tradition. I don't understand how it helps anyone get to heaven. Water doesn't wash away your sins. The only thing that I think helping you get to heaven is accepting the lord, or whatever you believe in, into your heart. I don't quite understand anything else about the baptism. Maybe your discussion can spread some light on my confusion as well. Thanks!

In my religon Baptism is the way to heaven. Baptism is our way of being buried and resurrected with christ. We must first believe that Jesus is the one true way to God and that God can and will save us from our sins, we must repent and be baptized for the remission of our sins. Baptisim is the ONLY way to Heaven. WIthout getting bapitized you will not be admitted to heaven.

Yes misty...I don't believe Baptism is the ONLY way to Heaven either, its just a part of it. You have it right about believing that Jesus is the one true way to God, and he saves us from our sins, but you've got it backwards, you have to get Saved first, then baptized. Baptism just shows that your following the steps that Jesus took, when John the Baptist baptized him. Thats what I believe anyway...

being baptized is all part of it, as per my knowledge. when you accept God and Christ, you need to be baptized and be renewed... and then live your life as Jesus... the thing is.. some when baptized stopped at that... they don't live their lives the way they should... and so being baptized alone doesnt get you to heaven. you need to work it out and live the best way you can.

Baptism is an act of obedience symbolizing a believer's faith in Jesus and in His likeness being crucified, burried and raised again, which also signifies that our sins are washed and we are raised into a new being and thus to me its important because it symbolizes that i have burried my past and raised to start a new beginning. Well i don't think that baptism will get you to heaven because being born again is what it matters and baptism is just a sign of our faith.
