Which do you prefer, Hanakimi Japan or Hanakimi Taiwan?

Both versions are being aired at the same time slots but on different tv networks. i think its ridiculous because the plot is the same. the difference would be the actors and how good they would portray their respective roles. i haven't watched the Taiwanese version, and i don't plan on watching it, but i think even if i do watch the Taiwanese version, i would still prefer the Japanese version. this may sound biased because i love Jdoramas but i just can't get attracted to the Taiwan version. i get discourage with the pictures i'm seeing in the net because the lead character Ashiya... looks too much of a guy. well, that might be fit for the role because Ashiya is pretending to be a guy, but i think its exaggerated that she looks just like a guy. unlike with the Japanese version where the girl looks like a guy but still you can tell she's a girl. i prefer it that way. maybe that sounds really shallow but hey, let's admit that the looks of the actors and actresses greatly matter too. anyway, i hope fans of the Taiwanese version won't get mad at me. ^__^;; that's just my preferences.

Tai Wan still the best based on the characters. ashiya should be like a boy and the japan version more like a girl in boy dress. The man lead character also the same. shun Oguri did not had athelte type of body. in the comic and series, he suppose to be top high school athelete. and wu Zun from tai Wan series had the body type. The story is pretty much the same.

i thought Shun Oguri had an appropriate body for the role. and of course Ashiya should look like a girl not a boy. she's a girl after all. what she should really look like is a girl-disguised-as-a-boy. but, thank you for your input. i appreciate it.

way to go pucca-chan! i could not rebut very well what she said because i have not read the manga and i have not watched the Taiwan version. i was just basing my opinion from the pictures i've seen and from opinion of others. now, i'm more convinced that the Japanese version is way way way better.

i beg to disagree! i read the manga and Japan version was the closest to portraying the manga, though its only half of it. Gomen!! hihihi in the manga: Mizuki's character was supposed to be sweet, determined and friendly. Maki portray it very well though sometimes her acting was close to being bland! again, gomen!!! hihihi. Ella's character only focuses on the guy protagonist and never showed her friendliness towards her schoolmates. how disappointing is that? Sano's character is introvert but soft-hearted. he secretly helps Mizuki and thats was the very thing Shun Oguri's character did. and did you see him jump??? thats the closest thing you can say as being true to the character. Wu Zun never did that. he just jump, just jump! you get what i mean?? Nakatsu's character is BAKA but soft-hearted and selfless. although Jiro Wang portrayed the BAKA-ness very well he lacked soft-heartedness and i really doubted the selflessness. while on the other hand Toma just did that. A LOT OF VIEWERS can vouch that! and supposed to be the female character look like a girl on boys school?? not a gay looking boy on boys school. lol! the drawing on the manga's more girly looking because that is what supposed to be. jeez.

The Japanese version of course. I tried watching the Taiwanese one, but I never got past the first episode (Ella Chen cannot compare to Maki Horikita), and it's just bland (plus a tendency to take it too "seriously", it's supposed to be a comedy - I also heard that the story has so many uneccesary twists and turns)...plus the general cast is just better in the Japanese version, and it's funnier too (I got annoyed with Ella chen's supposed-to-be-funny facial exps).

wow. i never thought a Taiwanese fan would find this discussion! i'm actually glad despite the contents of your comment. i respect your comment. and as i've said in my comment in the number six post, we are open to opinions of Taiwanese fans. i have nothing against that Taiwanese actress who played Ashiya Mizuki, i don't even know her. i just didn't like how she looked in Hanakimi. and i'm sure there are handsome Taiwanese actors out there, i'm actually a fan of Vic Zhou, but there are tons of equally handsome Japanese actors out there too. and i don't think the Japanese version is complicated. i easily understood it. didn't you? and it maybe sentimental, of course! it should be sentimental. there's a lot of emotion to it after all. it balances the comedy. thanks for your rebut.

i've always thought that Taiwanese are not good at making different facial expressions. that is why i really love with Japanese, they are so like anime characters because they are able to make lots of different funny facial expressions. touma-kun ga daisuki!!!

hey you! it's not true, yeah it maybe sounds like comedy, funny or whatever. and for me it's awesome, everytime i'm watching the Japanese version i really feel boring! but when i watch the Taiwanese version i always feel exited and of course i don't feel bored because just looking the face of ella chen makes me laugh especially her face expressions hehehe....plus the hansome faces of the male main characters wu chun and jiro wang WoW! why don't you tried to compare the beauty of male characters of japanese version and the male characters of taiwanese version...then you'll see the big difference. Plus the story is not too complicated unlike the japanese version the story was too complicated ,sentimental, and exaggerated from the true story that's why from now on anyone that well say bad about ella chen will get some punch!

I haven't watched the Taiwanese version so I shouldn't be in any place to compare but I really loved the Japanese version. It was so funny and anime-ish and so refreshing to watch. I was kinda rooting for Nakatsuu to get the girl... er, guy... er, Ashiya in the end but, well... I'm always been a fan of Horikita Maki, the actress who played Ashiya, ever since I watched her in Nobuta wo Produce and Kurosagi (both of which I watched initially only because Yamapi was in them) and then Seito Shokun. I'm with you though about the Taiwanese version. I've seen pictures of the actors who starred in the Taiwanese version and well, I'm really biased in favor of Japanese actors so... I think the series is highly entertaining and the plot is interesting so be it the Japanese version or the Taiwanese version, fans who have watched either would have enjoyed watching it nevertheless.

hi nekonyanta! i didn't watch the Taiwanese version when it was airing in ABS-CBN because i really didn't like the lead actress, Ella whoever it is, and during that time i have finished watching the Japanese version and i thought there could be nothing to top it. i was already satisfied with it and so i was biased too towards the Taiwanese version. you're a fan of yamapi too?? have you watched Proposal Daisakusen?? its a good drama too.

hmm i have to be honest here..i'm not sure what's hanakimi japan or hanakimi taiwan ..the only hanakimi series that i know is this taiwanese mandarin series starring Ella from S.H.E and Wu Zhun from Fahrenheit. that one is based on the japanese version i think.

hi kevsgirl. that's the Hanakimi Taiwan you're talking about. Hanakimi Japan stars Horikita Maki, Shun Oguri and Ikuta Touma. i think the Taiwan version came out first before the Japan version. but Japan didn't copy anything from the Taiwan version, they based everything on the manga. the Taiwan version had some twists that are not in the manga.

Hey. I agree. I think the Japanese version is better for a similar reason. . .I like the fact that the girl trying to be a boy still looks like a girl lol. My friend likes the Taiwanese version better since you can't even tell what that actress is. .that's supposed to be a girl? XD She wouldn't even need to dress like a boy lol. I haven't watched the whole series, nor a whole episode yet but I have watched part of the first episode of the Japanese version. Would have continued watching if Crunchyroll would actually load. ):

i've watched both. actually i watched the taiwan version first because japan version was still in debut. i actually like the hesitation of the Taiwanese actor to give all their best and be actually stupid but its a plus if they actually did. however, i was so shocked to know they cast Ella as the heroine because she looks gay to me. she horrifyingly fitted the role as the 'guy' classmate not as the female-enrolled-in-boys-school role. i meant all the offense because she's so 'buso'! lol. anyway, the Japanese version was way, way better because its meant to be that way! ahahahaha...ok, kidding aside, the cast and the plot blow the taiwan version to timbukto. there is no comparison to the two because there is nothing to compare. anyway, i both watch and like taiwan and japan drama for some reason. hihihihi

when i watched Hanakimi i was not that addicted to j-doramas yet. and i was not that addicted to Taiwanese dramas too. for me it was, what comes on tv, i will watch. a friend recommended Hanakimi to me and she warned me not to watch, ever, the Taiwanese version. i heeded to her warnings but i was curious so i searched for some pictures of the Taiwanese version and it was "ew" at first sight. i really didn't like how the girl looked like. i thought she was one of the boys and not a female-disguised-as-a-boy. ^__^;; i guess for me, if its a manga, then the live action version should be done by Japanese! coz manga is a Japanese comic book right??

I prefer the Japanese version because first, my favorite actors are on the main cast (Shirota Yuu, Ikuta Toma, Oguri Shun), second, I am very fond of Japanese Dramas, the way they make things are just amazing, the plot, the way they act, just wonderful. Third, erm... I'm so sorry for saying this but I sort of dislike the girl in the Taiwanese version, she looks more like a guy than a girl, I know it's how it should be but I don't think she has to look so much of a guy to the point of looking more masculine than the real guys. I'm so sorry, this is just my personal opinion please don't get angry at me. Finally, I can relate more to the humor in the Japanese version compared to the other. I've managed to watch about a quarter of an episode of the Taiwanese version and, I know it's probably not enough to be able to say much about the whole show, but it doesn't have erm... the thing that makes me want to see more of it. Again, this is only my opinion, please please please please don't get mad at me :D

Definitely Japan version, I really like their version, I am so disappointed with the Taiwanese version. I only once watched that version, and I am so annoyed with the way they act and I don't find it funny unlike the Japan version. It's very exaggerated and overacting. Their ashiya, is more like a tomboy, unlike ashiya of Japan, its just the way I imagined her. I really love hanakimi of Japan, they did a good job and they really portray the characters. It's really funny and entertaining to watched. And yes, hopefully Taiwanese version fans here, won't get mad at me also, it's just my opinion, peace :D

i know what you mean! the Taiwanese ashiya really looks like a guy! not a female-disguised-as-a-boy! i prefer the Japanese version too. although i didn't watch the Taiwanese version, just one look at the picture of the Taiwanese version has made me prefer the Japanese version more. and i love the humor of Japanese shows!

both our very good, but somehow, there are difference, the taiwan version just focus on the main characters, while on japanese version, the main character we're the center of attention but the other characters we're focused too, that's why i can even tell their name one by one, because they have a scene... but in my opinion, the japanese version is a lot funnier...

i've watched both but i haven't finished the Taiwan version yet. it's too long. and the show as it progressed became too predictable. well, i like Wu Zun better than Shun Oguri and Ikuta Toma than Jiro wang. all in all, its up to the whole cast for it to be a better version of another. but i like Japans' version better so sue me! hahaha

i had watched both and i prefer the japanese version, not because i like jdoramas too ( well thats another factor) but because shun ogori is cuter and funnier in the japanese version and mizuki ashiya in the japanese version looks more like a guy than in taiwanese version coz in the taiwanese version mizuki ashiya never looked like a guy not even the look of a "totoy"( lil boy) and i almost forgot the taiwanese version is longer..

hi mhay! my friend had told me that Taiwanese has a tendency to make a live action longer than the actual length of a manga or anime. they always put too much twists and turns which aren't really necessary for the show. and that's exactly why I like J-doramas. J-doramas are shorter but more enjoyable and entertaining. ^__^

I prefer Japanese adaptations of anything. Whether it's HanaDan or HanaKimi, I prefer the Japanese version. Maybe because the original story came from them so they will be able to portray best how the character is supposed to act. For HanaKimi, definitely Japan version :D Horikitty is too cute and Tohma gives justice to Nakatsu. Nanba (Hiro

First of all, I have NEVER read the manga. But, I prefer the TW version more. 1.) Ella looked more like a boy. She is disguising herself as a boy afterall so she may as well look like one, even though she did, she still looked cute. Maki looked way too much like a girl and even though she was pretty, made it seem a little too unbelievable that no one could tell that she was a girl. (I know Ashiya looked like a girl in the manga I am not comparing it to the manga, but the role of the character.) 2.) I have no clue why... but the Japanese version got very boring. I don't know... some people don't like the Taiwanese version for their overreactions, but I found that it made it more funny and interesting. 3.) Ella and Wu Zun seemed to have more of a spark because of their close friendship in real life. That made their relationship more cute. One thing I did not like about the Taiwanese version was the ending. If they do not make a second season (which I doubt they will), I will be highly upset, because the ending blew big time. But it does bother me, some people will say the Japanese version is better because they prefer Japan over Taiwan. (Especially when they haven't seen the TW version, no offense to the poster I am NOT talking about you). I've been to Japan and love the culture, but will not let that affect my opinion on the Taiwanese version.
