Personally, there are a lot of things (simple & otherwise) which make me absolutely happy. I've listed some of them here:
1. spending quality time with my own family
2. feeling like a child again while playing with our daughter (and only child)
3. taking trips to the province
4. marvelling at nature
5. receiving and opening gifts
6. giving some useful stuff to the needy
7. buying gifts for myself and for my loved ones
8. being here in mylot
9. playing & taking bath in the rain (we used to do this when me and my siblings were still 10 years of age & younger)
10. paydays & bonuses (lol)
11. having a substantial savings
12. & last but definitely not the least, being debt-free
On a personal note, I think the last two items on the list are the most difficult to achieve. I must admit that I'm quite hard-up in acquiring enough funds to pay-off our substantial amount of loans. As expected, we also don't have any savings in the bank or on hand. Anyway, be joyous & happy holidays!

Finding happiness is like finding yourself. You don't find happiness, you make happiness. You choose happiness. Self-actualization is a process of discovering who you are, who you want to be and paving the way to happiness by doing what brings YOU the most meaning and contentment to your life over the long run.
People are happy when they are "in control", that is, when they feel competent to satisfy their needs and reach their goals.
However, in order to reach our goal, money is always our hindrance and deny us of our goal. I do agree with you that by having money, we can achieve our goal and thus we will definitely be HAPPY. Simple example, if our children wants something for present, say, X-box, and we can afford it. The question is, who are happy? Both the parents and the child will be happy. For the parent, they have achieve the goal of getting what the child wants and whereas for the child, he is happy because he gets what he wanted. But what if the parents are poor enough to get the child the X-box that he wanted? We all know the answer, everybody are not happy.
So money does influence our happiness in life.
Thank you. Interesting topic.

i really think money is important. however, the money is not the way to prevent being happy. Even though you don't have money, but you still get family, friends, you still own happiness. if someone got money, but lose friends,i don't think he will be happy
