I have always been involved in conversations debating whether the beatles were better than the beach boys. in scope and influence I believe that the beatles takes the cake, but the beach boys were very influencial on pop music as well. what do you think

This is a no-brainer...just like Mac1946. I'm a big fan of both groups but there's no comparison. The Beatles have sold more recordings than anyone before or since, Elvis included. Either the whole world doesn't recognize good music or else Mac1946 doesn't. Who's right?

thanks Vinny, but as my name suggests, the 1946 was when I was born,so anything before the mid sixties is 1/2 decent music,( even back then, not everything was good either.) but at least most of it was original, nowadays, they just take the oldies and speed them up,destroying the good old songs so you can't realy understand them anymore. and that is what the beatles did, hense my dislike.

I'm a world class number one Beatles fan. I never liked The Beach Boys. I just didn't like their sound. But I will give exception to two songs. "Sloop John B" and "God Only Knows". Brian Wilson is a good songwriter. But there's no beaches where I live. So the surf's not up.

This one is easy, anybody or anything that produces music is better than the beatles. Sorry to offend people, but I wish their plane had crashed into the ocean before they got to America. they were the destruction of good music.

I think the Beatles were more inovative, but that the Beach Boys had their time and place. I think that both of their music has a "classic" quality to them that are the reason that you still hear them played on today's radios (granted on the classic rock stations.) There are fewer Beach Boy songs that hold up as well as the Beatle's songs, but those that do, hold up sometimes even better.

I'm a big Beacy Boys fan. My dad told me that the Beach Boys inspirired one of the beatles songs or something though, I can't remember which one. I really like both, but I would have to say that The Beatles have touched more people. Good Question!
