I find many posts on mylot that share information and tips to stretch the household dollar. Some of these posts are fantastic, and I have found very helpful.
I had a email this morning from a frugal friend that I would like to share with everyone. Some of these tips are common sense and many of you know about and have shared some of them absolutely blow my mind and I will be printing the list out and keeping it taped into a cabinet door of the laundry room for quick access.
To make this a discussion please feel free to add to this list or if there is a tip here you have tried and it did not work for ya give us a heads up.
I really found the one at the bottom of the list about the bread remarkable who knew? Surly not I.

41. To keep FRESH FLOWERS longer Add a little Clorox, or 2 Bayer aspirin, or just use 7-up instead of water.
42. When you go to buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest, so you "squeeze" for freshness or softness? Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has a different color twist tie. They are: Monday = Blue, Tuesday = Green, Thursday = Red, Friday = White and Saturday = Yellow.
So if today was Thursday, you would want red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)! The colors go alphabetically by color Blue- Green - Red - White - Yellow, Monday through Saturday. Very easy to remember. I thought this was interesting. I looked in the grocery store and the bread wrappers DO have different twist ties, and even the ones! with the plastic clips have different colors.

Well thanks a heap Angel! You have just given me an agenda for the rapidly approaching summer days. No lolling around in hammocks for me this year. No catching up on books I'm dying read, gardens I've been looking forward to tending. Oh no! I am now compelled to try and test everything on your list.
I already knew about the coloured twist ties, so that's time saved there. So perhaps I'll be able to squeeze at least one dip in the pool this summer. LOL

This is all fascinating, it really is but now I don't think I will ever let my children eat peanut butter, drink kool aid, or brush their teeth with colgate.

You did come up with some I did not know, and I thought I knew a lot of tips and hints. I had no clue about the bread. Here is one thing we do at our house: we keep the clear aloe vera gel for sunburns, BUT we also use it for other beauty needs. My husband puts it on his face before putting shave cream on, he says it improves the closeness. I put it on my face to soften and moisturize after washing, it also soothes any break outs. The third thing I do is to use it on my hair for frizzy control, not hard and stiff like styling gel, but gives a smooth look. I think you did a good job making these tips into a discussion.

Olive Oil and Mayonaise will not kill lice.. But it will Kill Lice Eggs (nits)... It however left on over a long period of time will make it easier to comb the lice bugs out of the hair... If you really want to kill the lice... What you do is add 1/4 part of Tea tree oil 100% pure, to a shampoo of any kind shake it around really well put that in let it sit about 15 minutes then rinse it out.. then afterward comb the hair out with lice removal combs.. in the end that is what really gets rid of it most lice removal products do nothing but make the eggs and bugs easier to clean out .. they will die on their own if not on a host for at least 24 hrs .. the real problem in getting rid of them is getting rid of all the nits (eggs) ...
I have had alot of experience dealing with getting rid of lice... Olive oil and Mayonaise for people with one or two bugs may work.. but it will not work for real infestations however.. IF a person is really infested doing olive oil, vinegar, and mayonaise in between the chemical treatments over and over will help.. but it is sure a mess to get out of the hair, and I find the best thing that works is tea tree oil 100% pure... Again usually the stuff that works does not kill the bugs but temporarily paraylises them so that you have time to comb the bugs, and to make the eggs easier to comb out of the hair, so applying mayonaise and combing out the entire head will then help... as the bugs will be trapped in the mayonaise making them easier to comb out, but usually it will again not kill them..
Take care,

Olive oil also kills lice. The trick is to put a shower cap on for two hours with the oil or mayo on, then comb out with a lice comb. Then for two more weeks wash and condition and lice comb the affected hair.

This sounds really cool I'm going to copy this and save it on my computer. I think I have a fungus on my pinky toe and I'm going to do what it says here to see if it goes away hopefully it does because I'm getting tired of that toe and it gets me depressed just looking at it. Thanks for the list. My mom just told me about this thing that hardens the nail, she said that you rub garlic on your nail. I don' know if it works but it's worth a try.
I have never looked at the bread wrappers and mostly I pick the ones that have white, but next time I go I'll look more closely at the wrappers. I'm not a wife, or housewive, i'm just a student but this is good for my mom. I could translate it for her to see what she thinks about it. Thanks for this list. ^_^

What is the color for Wednesday's bread? How does peanut butter get scratches out of CD's? Now, I'll run and duck while you try to wallop me! I'm so tired, I'm punchy, darlin, and I read that whole thing, and that's what I've come up with in response, so I'm sorry, but I'm a little goofy right now. But, wow, what a list! I knew about some of them, but not even close to all. I just love handy household hints. I wish I could think of one to add, but nope, nothing's comin. Love ya, baby, see ya round, if I can keep my fingers moving.....

Yeah I have to agree that Bread ties was a real treat, I hate getting a loaf of bread that feels fresh yet after a couple of days I am peeling off the crusts. I am as bad as the kids are if the crusts are not fresh I do not want any part of it.

Nice list, I've seen a few of those before but many of them were brand new. I'll add a couple to your list:
1: Clogged Drains: Effordent, or Coca-Cola.
2: Problems with your bathroom mirrors fogging up during a shower? Clean the mirrors with Shaving Cream once a month or as needed.
I know I have more, but just can't think of them at the moment. Great post Angelwhispers.

Very interesting! thanks for sharing :)
Also. Apple Cider Vinigar - a little bit of honey in some hot tea will help with colds. The vinigar helps clean the bad germs...
I drink it every time I'm sick and it makes it much shorter!

Thanks for all of these neat tips. I work in a grocery store and I didn't know that the bread ties were a different color like that. It does make sense so the delivery people know what needs rotated.
I will have to try some of these and see if they really work.

When I was living in Arizona, I used Elmer's glue when my kids got those horrible tiny cactus stuff in them, usually from a prickly pear cactus. Spread over the area, let dry and the stickers peel off easily--all of them!
I never knew that about the bread labeling, thank you!

Dragon, I lived in Sierra Vista for about 3 years. I wish I had known about the elmers glue then myself. Those cacti barbed needles are horrendous once they are in. It would have saved my husband much agony, LMAO he took care of maintenance in an apartment complex and did landscaping. What does everone landscape with in AZ, why Cacti and stone LMAO.
