Yes you hard me right!LOL How funny is that? Well I went to flush it and it wouldnt flush so I picked the lid up and the chain that goes to the handle broke in half. So I called my husband at work and told him I broke the toliet. I told him what part was broke and he said I could manually flush it by lifting the chain part up and it would flush. He was right! So now I can at least flush the toliet. Have you ever broke a toliet before? Do you think it was funny?

That happened to me as well but I fixed it myself with a piece of string. It's broke a few times but I just keep replacing the string.

I wish it was the chain that broke but its the plastic part that comes out from the handle inside. I have nothing to hook the chain on.

I can fix a toilet, but I don't drive!LOL! Hun traveled a lot, so all home maintainance was up to me... replacing the insides is easy... just buy a kit, and do exactly what it says... nothing to it!

I don't know about breaking, but I have definitely stopped up my share of toilets. I have frequent constipation. I know all about that chain in the back and how you can use it to pull up that black stopper to flush the commode. I hate plunging a toilet with a passion. Especially, when someone else stops it up and I have to unstop it. Just thinking about it makes me sick. But the water in the back of the toilet is very clean. You can actually drink it if you needed to. To me, there is nothing funny about a broken toilet. It is much too essential.

Lordy, I used to go thru those chains like CANDY! I think I replaced the chain about twice a YEAR for years and then about every 5 years I had to replace the flapper! Ya know, since the remodel, I've only had to do one repair on that toliet, that was in 1999, don't know what I'm doing right.... the new "low flow" peice of sh... toliet, on the other hand....

Well I can say that is pretty funny, but think of it this way, atleast you didn't break it by sitting on it, then you would be really upset!

Oh when I first read this, I thought "oops someone like me who has to lose weight" or "practicing weight lifting by lifting up the toilet" Then I read a little further, and found that the chain broke. Now all you or your husband has to do is to go to the nearest Home Hardware or wherever and replace the chain or get the necessary stuff to fix it.

I have never broken the toilet before, and I don't think I would find it as funny as you. : ) It being my only toilet I would be wondering how in the world I was going to fix the problem. Now once in the middle of the night my toilet clogged and I couldn't flush it. I held out that night as long as I could before going over to my parent's house around 6am to 'go.' I had my dad fix it so my apartment manager wouldn't send the maintenance guy. He takes forever and makes a mess! (not my dad, the maintenance guy, lol)

Somehow, TerryZ, I got a picture of someone sitting on a toilet and breaking it. I can't say that I've ever broken a toilet, but when there was 4 kids growing up in my home we did have our share of toilet mishaps.

Fix that toilet - If you know how! lol
Oh Terry... I've got a story for you! lol When hubby and I were in Texas, he had gotten orders to go to Korea for a year. Since we had bought a house, I opted to stay there and wait for his return. Well anything that could go wrong, did. First it was the toilet. It wouldn't flush and luckily he had called so he walked me through how to repair it. He told me to take the plug out of the bottom of the tank... what he forgot to tell me is to drain it first... water went everywhere!! I had all the towels that I had on the floor!! Well in the end, I got it fixed but he sure did hear about it before he got off the phone but we got to laughing too. Then another time, I had a cat box in the other bathroom and it had what I call, keys. I had set the keys on the sink so I took the lid off so I could scoop the box, when I was finished I went to get the keys and one of them slipped and fell in the sink and down the drain. Oh boy. So I got a big ole wrench and got the drain pipe opened and not thinking I turned it upside down and poured the water that was in the pipe all over myself. Of course my first reaction was surprise and then I had to laugh at my stupidity! lol Another time, our lawn mower had a flat tire. I had no idea how to get the darn thing off to get it fixed so I had to figure it out. I didn't know where the jack was and didn't know how to use it anyway so I got a bunch of metal boxes together and huffed and puffed and picked up the rear end of the mower and got it up on the boxes... got the tire off and repaired but got home, I couldn't get that dang tire on no matter how I tried! So finally I sat down with my back against the wall and kicked the tire over and over again in hopes it would go on but the lawn mower fell off the boxes! I had to get up and put it back on the boxes again! Gosh that thing is so heavy! I get it back up and kick again and it falls again... I did this over and over and over again till I finally got that dang tire back on!! By then I was so mad and tired and sweaty that I wasn't going to cut grass that day afterall. lol Then my car breaks down and cost me $600. to repair! That's when I cried and cried. I didn't mention that I had rescued a kitten and had it a few days before I found it suffering and had to put it down which liked to have killed me so when my car broke down, that's when I broke and really had a good cry. THEN! I had finished a beautiful cross stitch for my hubby and wanted to have it on the wall before he got home but it needed one of those sturdy type of hangers on the wall. I didn't know how to do it but had to give it a try. I got the drill and didn't know if it was the drill bit or screw thingy... lol So I did my best with the drill and it wasn't going in the wall fast enough and I squeezed it tighter and zoooom! right into the wall it went and when I got it out, I had this huge hole in the wall!! I was so agaped at it and then had to laugh at myself and thought oh no! what am I going to do now?! Fix it is what I'm going to have to do so I got the spackle and covered the hole and waited for it to dry and sanded it down then I tried making a hole again and did it right that time. Another time, I had tried to put a hanging plant up and thought I did it right but a few days later, it fell on to the floor with such a BANG! I'd like to flew out of my seat!! From then on, I vowed to never have another hanging plant because God only knows who could've been standing under that thing when it fell. So my year without my hubby was pure hell because of a number of reasons and the main one was because he wasn't there and because of all the things that could go wrong did. But it was a hell of a learning experience that's for sure and now I can look back at it and get a good laugh once again! LOL

I haven't broken the toilet....but we had a family friend...who was really overweight. He sat on the toilet and it broke...not just a part...the whole toilet broke! It took my dad and his brother to pull him up...and take him to the toilet. It's not really funny...but it was for his family (most of them are overweight)....but they chose this incident to tease the poor fellow (they still do...around 13-15 years later)...he's not oeverweight anymore...and quite fit...but he still gets teased about it. He takes it as a joke and laughs at it himself.

My toilet must be one of the worst in the world..years and years ago our landlord decided to install tank top toilets to replace the old ones...well he must have gotten a "deal" and got the cheapest ones going..they're ALWAYS falling apart, and yes that chain gizmo broke long time ago..I managed to fix it by hooking paper clips..yup, paper clips...just unbent the clips and molded it to make sort of a new chain..and it works...hehe

When I first started reading this discussion I thought you were going say you broke the toilet seat. I know that has happened to me. Although it was my sister who broke mine. She sat on it and the toilet seat broke in half. She pinched her bum when it broke and when she came out of the bathroom and told me I laughed my head off. She didn't think it was so funny and she was kind of embarrassed so I had to quit laughing. The reason she thought it wasn't so funny is because she is very heavy and she took it as an insult that she broke it. She weighs about 350 lbs. so she thinks she broke it because of her weight and she actually started crying over it. I told her to not worry about it, it could be replaced. She went out that same day and bought me another one, she felt so bad.

Ha ha yes it is very funny and I am glad it is not just me that does it!! I did it not so long ago, it was bedtime and I went to the loo and when I went to flush the handle chain the thing just snapped in half and it made such a noise. I went into the bedroom and my hubby pipes up from the bed, "you broke the toilet again didn't you"? The other thing I always seem to break is the toilet seat!!
