It was driving me absolutely nuts........ Hubby was on the computer last night and somehow he killed the computer. I could not connect to the internet no mater what I did. I was going crazy.. yelling at him.. "If you don't know what it does, don't click it, don't download it, don't do it"He clicked on something, still can't figure out what for...
When he did, it did something to my connection. Thank goodness for backup discs. I tried uninstalling stuff that was recently installed, reinstalling stuff, repairing stuff... finally I gave up and used the back up... Turns out, it was nasty old adware that he click allow on. Firewalls,Antivirus,AntiSpam is all great and up to date.. but when you have someone using your computer that has no clue.. Well... lets just say, he won't be able to get much access to the internet unless I am around.. I hid everything.. all he knows is the click on IE or Firefox.. hehehe ... they are gone... hidden in a folder he would never look in:)

That is why windows xp put the rollback feature in for when people have problems they can fix them by basically turning back time.

My hubby doesn't know much about a computer either i have tried to teach him a few times but still he doesn't know much my little 5 year old sister knows more than him lol...are there a way to lock files and folders so they cannot be deleted? that you have to have a password to open it up. he likes to play games and stuff on mine and i tell him about mylot and how addicted i have become i shouldn't be telling him because he will want to get on here and take over my computer but i wouldn't let him have him voice his opinion on mylot because we have way different views on so many things and he'd probably get me into trouble..lol...

LOL.. hubby didn't know that about the history folder either.. haha.. He doesn't go on any sites he's not allowed to.. I have the parental controls set in case he got any bright ideas.. haha.. he usually just goes on fishing sites, he used one finger to type and it drives me nuts if I am waiting to get on.
thanks for responding

It went great. Sky went as a Zombie Cheerleader. Here is a pic of the makeup. Its funny, all the babies on the street we not scared of any costumes and it is their 1st halloween. It was so cute.. my nephew kept trying to wipe off Sky's makeup to see her face.

Oh good plan!
Mine asks me though. So if the antivirus or antispam encounters something, it asks me, and I must choose. This can be tedious for even fairly computer-savvy people (I mean... maybe I DO want ie.dl to access my computer... or...?).
You could always get separate log-ins! heehee... then just set the security settings for all of the programs to very secure (requiring passwords etc) and don't give the other log-in administrator status.

I know what you mean. I've been there before. Install a piece of software called SpyBot. Run it periodically to clean up all of the adware that has been downloaded on your computer. I believe SpyBot is free.
