What is it with my kids and mandarin oranges?

Both my 8 year old and my 14 month old love mandarin oranges. They inhale the things. I bought 4 boxes of the 4-pack cans a week and a half ago and they are already gone! I need to get them more already. I need to start getting the bigger cans again I guess. It is getting expensive getting the small cans. Do you have any young ones that are obsessed with mandarin oranges? or do they have another fruit they love?

My son loved them for about 3 or 4 weeks. He would eat no other fruit. Then he moved on to raisins and craisins. He would eat nothing else, and stopped eating the oranges altogether. Now he won't touch raisins anymore and is on to grapes. I cut them in half for him, and sometimes I can barely keep up with him. Maybe soon he will tire of the grapes and move on to something else- perhaps blueberries? Those are yummy!

My daughter practically inhales all of the fruits you mentioned. Mandarin oranges are just her most recent love.

Check your store for big cans of them. I know at our local walmart supercenter you can get like a 16 oz can for 99 cents. My kids aren't big on any canned fruit but they all have their favorite fresh fruit of choice. My baby who is 2 loves bananas. My boys who are 5 and 6 can sit down and eat an entire watermelon in one day and my oldest daughter who is 11 loves anything orange (tangerines, clementines, oranges, etc.) I think fresh produce goes further than canned but with the way the prices on everything keep going up and up these days I may have to move to FL or start a green house to be able to afford fresh fruit in the future.

Mandarin oranges are the only canned fruit that I buy. My kids are always eating grapes, apple, bananas, and pears when we are out of the oranges, but at the rate they are going lately I am going to have to buy stock in one of the companies that sell them. I usually get the bigger cans, but my son asked for the small ones this last time.

well enjoy it while you can...its good that they eat so much fruit, too bad it is so expensive...have you introduced them to other fruit? or maybe mix the mandarins with grapes or make them into a fruit salad???

Oh man I love madarin oranges. They are some of the best canned fruits. I can eat a whole can in matter of time. I will probably eat a can in a whole day. Seriously, me, my brother, and my cousins we just love them so much.

I like them too, but not as much as they seem too.
