Is medication making us sick?

I used to be one of those people who took a lot medications. Both perscription and over the counter. I would wake up and pop some excerdrin or tylenol, take something for allergies, then another pill for acid reflux and the list would go on and on.
A few months ago, I looked at all the medicine I was taking and wondered if I really needed it, so I stopped taking the vast majority of it.
Amazingly enough, most of my symptoms went away. It's rare when my acid reflux bothers me, same is true of allergies and I'm finding I get fewer and fewer headaches.
I will still take the medication when I need it, but I came to the conclusion that the medicine itself seemed to be causing a lot of my problems.
What are you experiences, and what do you think?

There is an old saying in China,There are 30 percent of poison in medications.Especially when you take several different kinds of meds at the same time.I go for food treatment first every time I am sick. There are lots of side effects in lots of meds,so we should avoid taking meds as possible.

You are so so spot on with this Filmbuff, we actually fool our bodies into thinking we are having symptoms and when we believe it, it happens. My big one is Excedrin for migraines. I get a head ache mid day from stress, too little caffeine too much caffeine, pop 2 Excedrin and all is right with the world again in a half hour. Most of the time if I would have just sat down and closed my eyes for 10 minutes all would have been right with the world with out the medicine.

Strangely enough I think the excedrin was causing my stomach and acid reflux issues. I'd would take excerdrin for headaches and pains, which is hell on the stomach all that acid, hence the acid reflux.
I also think the antacids like the zantac I was taking didn't really help becuase it cuases you to produce less acid, which i think makes your body go...okay we need more acid here..ramp it up.
That being said, I'll still take it for a migraine if I have nothing else, but I try to use something else for other pain symptoms if I need to take something...like tylenol for instance.

I, for one, think that we are over-medicated nowadays. Everyone seems to be on some kind of prescription medication for something. I don't recall hearing stories about people 100 years ago on so much medication. But, then again, they had their "tonics". But, it seems that most people didn't need medicines on a daily basis. I often try to not take medications unless I really need it.

I am a person who suffers with allergies but I do not know what I am allergic to. I have taken different medicines for it but they are either temporary and I will use until they finish, or they do not work and I will stop taking them.

Finding out what you are allergic to would probably help. Here's a tip, if it's weeds and pollens that do you in, start eating a tablespoon of LOCAL RAW honey. The bee's use the pollens to make the honey and you will build up an immunity to the allergies. It's worked for me.
