I hate medicines. How about you? The pills just always seem too big to go past my throat and sometimes I feel as if Im actually gagging on them. I have to jump up and down sometimes to get them down.
My grandmother use to take several pills for her conditions but she hated it. My father also expressed his disgust at having to take so many tablets. He was a heart patient. So I am just here wondering ...how many of you mylotters enjoy/dont mind taking medicines be it tablets or liquid?

I too am a diabetes patient, or at least that is what they tell me, just another pill to take twice a day. I had a terrible reaction to some poison ivy I got into and had to be put in the hospital, I could not breathe, they ran in one day after about a week and shot me with inslin, said they had been giving me high doses of steroids since I got there trying to stop the poison ivy, now I had sugar from the high doses of steriods. Now they have me on metformin, twice daily. But when I get up my sugar is perfect and unless I do something to make it high it stays that way all day. I was on a different medicine that I did not like (avandryl) and refused to take it, and my sugar was perfect when I got up. Sometimes I think they make you take it just so you don't prove them wrong. I like the metformin better if I have to take it. I been taking the blood pressure, and heart medicine for 10 years now, they say that is what is keeping me going, I sometimes wonder, before I got on the insurance that I have now and back then when I had to pay for the medicine and couldn't get it for sometimes 2-3 at a time, if I HAD TO HAVE IT why I didnt' get sick then and die, jsut not my time to go. I think there is some medicine that is helpful and probably keeps people alive, but sometimes I wonder if all we got is really as good for us as they say. I mean 10 pills a day, dont' they interact with each other.

I always forget to take my meds. No matter when I take them I just cant remember to take it. When I do remember all is good I can dry swallow just about any pill.

Luckily, I don’t need to take any medication for the time being. But if I got a cold or flu, I would take Panodol or any relevant medicine to get cure quicker. In that case, I don’t really hate taking the medicine as I know I count on them to get recover. But I can understand in your case it becomes a necessary, which not only irritate you, but also give you side effect. Unfortunately, you have to put up with it as there are not other choices. Take care and all the best!

Incontrast to the idea you got Madona1, I do not take meds on a regular baseis. Like you its mainly for cold and flues and once in a while some antibiotics for an infection. It is the cold and flue tablets that started me on my I-hate-taking-medicine rant. My sisters especially one is the same. Its just hard. (lol)

I have the same opinion with you.But the diseases are inevitable in one's life.
I hope one day the patient can get well without the medicine

Basically, taking medicine is not a problem at all for me. Ever since I was a little girl, it's quite easy for me to take tablets. And my mum was quite happy that she did not deal with that problem because I easily got sick at that time. I suppose all my family members do not hate taking medicine. But of course, everybody wants to be healthy.
My grandma used to take 5 tablets at a time, twice a day to control her Parkingson disease when she was still alive. She seemed to be ok of taking those tablets. But I did not feel quite good. After all, this was definitely not a good experience.

Hats off to you Chrissieatu. Luckily for us my nephew does not mind taking his meds just like when you were a child. It makes life that much easier because I would feel like a hippocrit knowing full well that anyone prompting me to take my medicine would have a very hard time. Injections and tablets are my worst. I cant even watch when he's getting his injections.
Maybe you inherited your tolerance for taking meds from your gran. If that holds true I might be in for a hard time with my child. I hope not. Furthermore I hope very little medicine will be needed.

I'm with you...I hate taking medications and I have about 12 different meds I take right now. I sometimes don't even take them because the thought is so unbearable. I know that I shouldn't do that but ;..oh well. I feel like I am a slave to them. I have diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, a large herniated disc, arthritis, spinal stenosis, low thyroid, and am prone to A-fib. I end up in the hospital about every 3 months or so , on IV antibiotics, because I get cellulitis at the mere mention of a germ.... and then end up in the hospital about every 3 months or so.
It's not that they are hard to swallow...it's the mental part of it..I just hate the idea of taking them all. I say pill haters unite....lol
Blessed Be, Mari

My dear Mari. With all those conditions you have mentioned I now feel that I ought not to complain so much about my little discomforts. Its mianly a little flue or some passing ailment that I have to deal with but I really do hate pain and medicine.
Inspite of your ailments you do seem to be a rather positive person. I admire that. I really hope I'll remember you and your positive attitude the next time I go off the deep end about my small discomforts.
Do keep strong and rememmber your in my heart's prayer. (lol)

I take about 9 a day and one twice a day, and been doing it since 1998 when I had my heart attack, I guess they are doing what they are suppose to do since they told my hubby that I would not make it another year and look still here, Thanks to God almighty. I get so tired of hearing hubby say did you take your pills, did you take your blood pressure, some days I say not going to take them today, when i got to the doctor and she says take this twice a day I cringe, not another one. I just stick them all down my throat and take a drink of water. I hate the big ones. But I guess you got to do what you got to do. They should make one pill that handles 2 or 3 things at a time.

Good for you. I am happy to meet yet another person who as defied the predictions of a doctor. God has definately been on your side.
I agree the meds do work but still they're a pain in the neck to swallow. Am with you on the one tablet for more than one ailment idea. It would certainly make many of us happy. (lol)

medicines and myself r complementary to each other unfortunately in this birth.i feel so pissed when i have to go through the medical prescriptions now and then.am no more interested to see the faces of the doctors specialized in any field.medicines suffocates me.i don't understand why medicines has become part of my life and i have same sentiments for the people who are suffering.i really wish to delete population of doctors and their medicines.it's making patients sick rather then serving them better.
the sad part is that all living beings has to make medicines as part of their life soon or later.i really imagine what if one day we find medical food palaces.
chill dear and accept the change in the environment.

I feel your pain. Whenever a doctor prescribs medicines for me I ask them to tell me what each is for even though I cant read their handwriting most of the time. I just figure if they are going to give me a hard time even if its for my own good then I'll give them back some.
It is really hard to stick to all that medicine.
